The Chicago North Ave location is pretty dreamy, too! Sigh...

Yeah, NYC had some incredible WFs also. There is also a fantastic WF in Maryland, and a great one in North Scottsdale. Although - the prepared food in MD and AZ has nothing on the prepared food here (which is pretty f'ing amazing).

Shockingly our WF is ginormous and a bit of an oasis as well. While there are 4 in the surrounding areas at home, there's only one here but my god is it magnificent. I'd loooove to see the flagship location.

Granted I'm not huge into deli sandwiches but when I had one it was kinda gross. It's just sort of a regular gas station with a sandwich counter in it as far as I could tell. I would change my tune of there we're some sort of ice cream counter or burger counter but it's just meh to me. I also don't like their coffee. As far as gas station coffee goes, I have to say I prefer 7-11s coffee bars and their selection of coffees, creamers, syrups, toppings, teas, etc. maybe we just have sub-par wawas near us. Also their gas is more expensive than at least three other places I can go.

For me, the gold standard for a WF is Kensington High Street in London. It is colossal and the prepared foods area blows away anything I've found in the U.S. (That being said, I haven't been to the ones in NYC or Austin)

Wegmans is great but I still miss Stew Lenards. I'm not crazy about the meat or fish at Wegmans and usually get both at a local farmers market. We don't have either TJ or WF nearby.

I don't get Wawa either and I've been here for 7 yrs.

Hmmm interesting. Wawa started out as a convenience store. The gas station part of their business has only been added in the last 10-15 years. They do make their own ice cream and iced tea. And they now offer smoothies and other frozen drinks at the sandwich counters.

I totally get it about the coffee. Everyone has their own preference. There are people that love their coffee (I like the French Vanilla and S'mores drinks, but they're not really coffee), and others who prefer DD or Starbucks.

I think the gas prices totally depend upon where you live. In this area, their gas is cheaper than other nearby gas stations. Plus you pay one price, none of that different prices for cash and credit BS.

My love for Wawa is very much tied to having been raised on it. I mean, I grew up in a town where there was 8-10 of them! I am sure I would feel differently if I was more familiar with another convenience store chain.

I really hope instacart takes off and expands beyond SF and NYC. It's like my dream come true.

We actually have Tom Leonard's here, which I think is an offshoot of Stew Leonard's (if I remember correctly). If so, I like that place too, exclusively for produce. We've tried their chicken which is well priced, but sub-par IMO. They have gorgeous produce - the loveliest Brussels sprouts I've ever seen. Bell peppers for $0.69 (compared to $2.19 at Kroger!). Mix-and-match berries 2/$5. It's yet another stop during my grocery shopping but usually worth it.

Stew Leonard's is amazing. Just amazing. My ex BFs family was from CT and we used to go every time we were home. Their strawberry soup is to.die.for.

It's turned into such a zoo though (literally with the petting zoo outside sometimes). My DH grew up around the corner from Stew Leonard's. It's like a tourist attraction now!
