Summer is almost here! And it rained. All. Day. Long. What's a mom to do? I took the K Bros + Lambie to the library, then to the McDonalds play place, and then we worked on our Summer Bucket List. Among the usual requests (go to the zoo, fishing, picnic in the yard, swimming) and the not-so-usual requests (climb a coconut tree), K2 suggested we have a tea party. The boys got all excited about the prospect and, not wanting to spend $$ on a tea set for two little boys who will probably get bored once the novelty wore off, we decided to hit up a thrift store. On the way in, K1 says to me, "Don't forget to get a marble run for me too."
Well, we got the tea set, a marble run, two football helmets, a football, a baseball bat, a soft ball, a boomerang, a battery operated robot, and a car race track all for $21. My boys looked like Steve Martin in The Jerk walking around the store in football helmets, dragging around mini patio chairs (which I skipped) and wicker baskets filled with odds and ends (much of which I also skipped). Clearly, the students have surpassed the master here.
Their mania was contagious today. I wonder how I'll keep it up all summer.
