  • Popping ears

I flew home today with a cold, and I didn't take a decongestant since I'm still breastfeeding and worried about it hurting my supply. So now I'm home with unpopped ears. I'm pretty much willing to try anything - what do you do to get your ears to pop??

I once had the someone stuck an ice pick in my ear pain while flying. I could not get them to pop. My mom suggested that I snort a little water mixed with a packet of salt. This was my only choice since I could not deplane. It actually worked...burned my sinuses like a mofo but worked. Be ready for the snot to run like a leaky faucet afterwards. Waaaay stronger than saline nose spray.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Hmm, I wonder if using my sinus rinse (like a neti pot, but a squirt bottle) would help. Fortunately it doesn't hurt much anymore, I just can't hear much out of it.

Lol. My husband says the sinus rinse helps with almost everything. He always says sinus rinse plus decongestant (that's fine while preggers-- I've always been ok with it) plus afrin.

That being said I still have an infection that started about 5 weeks ago with clogged ears. They didn't pop for about 4 days, and then one side was clear and the other wasn't. This progressed to bronchitis and asthma. I'm about ready to relent and get antibiotics bc I'm just getting one symptom after another and it's been weeks!!!!!

I usually plug my nose and blow gently. I think I learned about it in a novel about scuba diving.

I did a lot of that while blowing my nose! I think it eventually unpopped one of those times yesterday, because I realized I could hear at some point late last night. I still have fluid moving all around in them, which is a pain, but at least I can hear and they don't hurt terribly anymore. I hate being sick! I'm just SO grateful that E didn't seem to have any problems.
