  • Fix M3 and M4?

Argument to reform last two years of medical school. Didn't someone here suggest this recently? Fi

I love how this article was written by an incoming M1. Forbes is really hurting for articles, huh?

But actually, I think it is a great idea!

DH and I think medical education probably needs to be looked at in its totality, but the idea of how and what is nearly impossible to decide. When DH's uncle went to medical school (he's now retiring from practice), credits cost the same as undergrad, so indebtedness was minimal, physician wages were high, and the knowledge of medicine was so much less. And yet, medical school was four intense years prior to residency. There was no virology or embryology, pharmacology was FAR more simple, and the hours spent in class and studying were overwhelming then. Somehow, we are trying to teach far more information, in a meaningful way, in the same amount of time? It just doesn't make sense. We need to rethink how we're doing things, but I don't think that's limited to M3 and M4.

Read the mission statement from the director of the new Dell med school in Austin. It's interesting
