      It boggles my mind why people insist that dr's should be paid "average wages". Their education, work risk and hours on the job are in no way average!

        Because it is class envy plain and simple. The "it's not fair" crowd doesn't care about reality.

          It also boggles my mind that people still think doctors' salaries are the main reason why health care is so expensive.

              I have worked with hospitalists, surgeons (general, orthopedic, cardiothoracic, and vascular), interventional cardiologists, cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and emergency physicians. And I'm married to a psych resident. I know how much they're paid and what their job entails, and I can honestly say that I have yet to meet an "overpaid" physician!
