Happy 4th!

Anyone doing anything fun? Not much happening here. DH is supposed to get off "early" (I'll believe it when I see it) since he doesn't have any med students today, so we might go find a nice quiet side street near the high school where they're setting off fireworks.

If he's not back, I'll watch A Capitol Fourth on PBS and see what I can see from my balcony.

DH is on call today, but our neighboring city had their show last night. We went over to one of the CRNA's houses for a cookout. They had a good view from their yard, so we watched it from there and beat the crowds. The kids loved it, and they actually slept in this morning!

Today we are celebrating our independence by tackling a huge laundry list of "to-do".

We still don't really know anyone here well enough to invite anyone over - we're working on it, but it's slow and tedious. In the future, I foresee barbecues and drinks with friends and family.

Fireworks over the ocean tonight!

Major league baseball game, dollar dog night and fireworks. Smoking pulled pork for lunch and watching World Cup. It doesn't get more perfect.

It's our anniversary! 17 years today! We'll go out for dinner (or maybe lunch), then go to my brother's for fireworks and fun with family and friends.

DH was on call last night, went in at 3 this morning, and came home at 8. He slept until 11 while I made red, white, and blue Rice Krispie Treats (just call me Martha....) DH is back on call tomorrow, so we are going to make the most of today! We are in the car now, headed to spend the afternoon/evening with good friends. They live about an hour away, and there is an outlet center on the way, so we are going to make a quick stop there since our youngest has grown out of the shoes we bought in May. 😯 My oldest gets home from Paraguay Sunday....can't wait to hear all about his trip! It has been a long six weeks! Happy 4th to everyone!

Currently enjoying the insane waves on VA Beach brought to us by tropical storm Arthur, celebrating my independence from housework and laundry this week.

DH left Wednesday to visit family, so I am painting the guest bedroom, and bought myself a bottle of champs, and a chicken breast which I will probably grill later for dinner assuming i'm not too drunk and/or busy knitting and online shopping.

It's pretty pathetic to buy a single chicken breast. Not whining, just saying.

We'll be stylish rednecks tonight. 😂He has a beautiful big house in a nice neighborhood and on the 4th, everyone switches to trailer park mode with fireworks going off in the street and kids catching crawdads in the ditches.

Fireworks last night, neighborhood parade this morning and now we're enjoying the club party. Quiet night, kids in bed early and then we have a full weekend of bowling, BBQ with friends and a Sporting KC game on Sunday! Weekends can be fun! Yay!!

Having a wonderful birthday celebration with my family. Woke up to presents, breakfast, coffee, and enthusiastic kids. We went to the local festival and now we're home having a late lunch. There is some dissent between DH and DD about my birthday cake...it'll either be a chocolate bag filled with berries or a lemon cake with blueberries on top.
