I thought this would be a fun topic! It doesn't matter where you are in the training process. What are some of your favorite, fun memories?

When dh started residency in Germany, I picked him up from the hospital once and I was wearing nothing but a trench coat.Last edited by PrincessFiona; 07-13-2014, 11:35 AM.~Mom of 5, married to an ID doc

We always threw a big Thanksgiving for anyone who had to work the holiday. It was a two day affair so those working Thursday could feast on Friday.

I used to participate in a series that featured musicians once a month on an elderly ward at the hospital. The third time I met DH he came to see me play there and brought me coffee. Sitting with him afterwards in his tie and short little white coat I noticed for the first time how handsome he was. Sat talking to him even though it made me late for my next appointment. I knew as I walked out of that hospital that I was in trouble.
Guess that means I'm a sucker for men in uniform

The memory that stands out for me happened during DH's graduation dinner. Each graduating chief resident gets to stand up and say a few words in front of everyone, and it's always the usual ... thanking the attendings, their families, spouses/SOs, etc.
DH stood up and thanked the other residents, his attendings, and then he turned his attention toward me. He talked about how I'd supported him during those long years of residency and then read Lord Byron's She Walks in Beauty. It was both shocking and lovely, everyone was looking at me and I was trying so hard not to cry.
Thanks for giving me this little trip down memory lane, I needed it today!

For DH's birthday one year I went out and bought a bunch of supplies to build an awesome fort (complete with glow-stick lighting) and a bunch of sci-fi movies and ordered pizza. We built a huge fort and had a blast all evening. Definitely got me some major awesome wife points too.Wife of a PGY-1 podiatric surgery resident, mom to two cat babies with a human one on the way!
