  • What Did You Learn Today?

My 3yo frequently asks me, "What did you learn today?" It's a surprisingly hard question to answer. I find that most days, I'm so caught up in mundane routines, crossing things off my "to do" list, that I don't take time to learn new things or I'm just not conscious of learning new things. I've been trying to make an effort to pay attention and learn new things.

So, what did YOU learn today?

I learned the basics of running a pacemaker analyzer. Well, kind of. The tech had stepped out so I was the only one not scrubbed in, so the doc talked me through it for a few minutes until the tech got back. It was kind of fun. And luckily the physician was patient with me!

I learned how to put up crown moulding. I also learned why most (sane) people hire a professional to do it...

I learned to step out of my comfort zone a little. DH took me to a ballroom dancing class tonight and I actually had fun.

I'm learning to take it one day at a time with a parent in early dementia.

I learned about ACEOs (Art Cards Editions and Originals). Apparently, artists make trading cards which are original works the size of poker/baseball cards. They trade them with other artists and some are sold. Depending on the artist, some can be valuable too. I'm excited about discovering an affordable way to start an art collection with pieces that are easy to store, move, and display.

It might go away. I developed asthma at 21 and it was gone by 25.

I was diagnosed at 34. DH says I had an idiot for a ped and several dense primary docs who all kissed it. He went over my history with mom and realized I had it the whole time.

I learned that bitter apple spray is quite effective for a puppy who loves to bite anything but his toys.

Crazy! I was dx with exercise-induced asthma in my 20s, but it was secondary to the exhaustion and vitamin deficiency caused by undiagnosed celiac. Is everything else OK with your health?

Yup, everything else is fine. Family doc said that it's not uncommon for kids who were diagnosed frequently with bronchitis to actually have asthma instead. My childhood was one bout of bronchitis after another and I've likely always had asthma. The horrible air quality from the wildfires combined with some allergies most likely tipped it over the edge recently.

She did a chest x-Ray to rule out any other issues. No history of heart or lung issues, never been a smoker or drug user, etc.

Makes sense I guess. Not fun though-- hope you're feeling OK!
