We definitely need to clean house. VBulletin has a lot of features, but I think we need to turn off or limit access to the ones we don't use. It's just confusing.

We should discuss in the admin forum and divvy up work on pruning.

Maybe people want to give input here on what they think we need front and center for newbies?

I think the front page should be driven by the scope and vision of the NFP, about which I know little. The empty widgets and outdated articles probably need to go though. I don't know, I will brainstorm.

The general forums work when new members open threads. When I joined, I wasn't aware of private spaces and relied on my anonymity to protect me when I posted questions in the general forums. I was surprised and delighted to get such quick and thoughtful responses. I expected it to be weeks before I heard back if at all. That hooked me.

As more people know me here, I don't have the cloak of anonymity, so more of my posts are in private spaces.

I've noticed that more recent members request access to private spaces right out of the box. They don't trust anonymity.
