  • DIY Halloween costumes

Keeping in line with my "yay for holidays" posts...what are some of your most creative ideas for DIY Halloween costumes? For kids, couples, families?

DH and I always do some sort of couple DIY costume. I strive for the wow factor though; it's not as fun to me if it's overplayed. This year we are adding in a third person to outfit.

    Bonus points for pics!

No pics, but I'm planning to dress E up like a strawberry for Halloween, and I'm debating whether I want to make or buy her costume. I know I want a stem with a flower on her head, leaves around her neck, a red bubble outfit with seeds, and green and white striped tights/pants/leggings. I thought about knitting it, but seeing as how I've finished two small items this year and that's it, I don't see that happening. My mom could help me sew something, but we'd still need to find time to work on it. I don't know if hubby and I should try to dress up as fruit or something with her, or if we should find something else that coordinates, or just be boring.

Our plan for the neighborhood adults only annual costume party is zoolander and mugatu.

I so freaking excited. I've been hearing Frankie Say Relax in my head all day.

        I do not dress up.

Girls will be a cat (C) and a mouse (D) - they LOVE the neighborhood cat and DD2s lovie is a mouse so that works out nicely. On that note, I want to make DD1 a black, gray, and pink tutu to wear as part of her costume - we're just going to do a black leotard and tights - how hard is that? I want it to look like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/2004915...w_type=gallery

N is going to be a dancing princess. I got the costume used. BabyJ is going to be a pumpkin, per my husbands wishes that all our children are pumpkins their first Halloween. Someday id like to do a pumpkin spice latte and barista. Or BabyJ as a monkey and DH as the man in the yellow hat, because he is a dead ringer

I randomly made a tutu last year "just to see if I could do it" and it was super easy. My only advice would be cut the elastic far shorter than you need it bc as you tie the tulle on it stretches (assuming you are making a no see tutu). I also googled a fast, easy way to cut the tulle the length you want which shaves off TONS of time.

I vote for a family of fruits!! One of you could be a bunch of grapes...I did that one year as a kid. Something like this...

Nugget has a Sully costume so we may all be characters from Monsters Inc though it's not creative and awesome. It's this one...

I'm not a huge DIY person, but my niece and her friends DIY'ed an array of loofah costumes and they were so cute!

(Not her, but gives you the idea of what they looked like. They had about a dozen colors)

I Googled for pregnant Halloween costumes, and this was the best one I saw: http://damn.com/p/pregnant-halloween-costume/

However, I will be all alone on Halloween and not dressing up, while DH parties with my BFF back home on his away rotation. :/

                        Lmao!

I saw a really great pregnant Humpty Dumpty costume a few years back.

We will probably go as dexter and one of his victims. we had actually planned to do that in 2012, but the whole "having to take call" thing got in the way. Oh well. Not really relevant anymore, but I need to use all that Saran Wrap I bought two years ago!!!
I'm just trying to make it out alive!
