I work in the nursery on Sunday mornings, every 6th weekend or something. I like helping with computer stuff too, but I don't make the effort to do that much.

I have been with my humane society since I was 16. Since I no longer live near it, I return the 1800 number phone calls on Sundays and Mondays. If I was back home I would be volunteering every weekend with them again. In college I volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and I would love to do that again.

I'm debating becoming a CASA. Every time I get to the point where I think I have the time, it look like we'll be relocating. I was hoping to be able to do it in our current location, but with DH being recruited HARD by several different entities back east, I'm pretty sure our time here is limited. Adding in that the local hospital will be bankrupt by December, and our relocating is looking more and more likely. Again.

I work in the nursery at church 2 Sundays a month and help with the kids' Christmas program (working with soloists). If I ever stop teaching, I will volunteer at a nearby women's shelter. I have had several kids through the years that have stayed there with their moms and I admire the work they do there.

Wendy, you'd be a great CASA!

I used to volunteer for the local PBS station in my old city. I did one volunteer thing with the PBS here, and it wasn't the same. :-/

I volunteer a lot thought Junior League, and hope to get more involved with the JCC. I wish I had more time!
I'm just trying to make it out alive!

I like homework and reading. I would enjoy an after school, free tutoring program.

The crisis pregnancy center, here. Maybe when DS2 is a little bigger and sturdier.

diggity--your potential relocation issues are going to get missed in this thread. So sorry to hear this More info please?

By the way, Court appointed special advocacy is amazing. You get far more out of it than you put in. You would be fabulous.

I currently volunteer in my 2nd, 3rd grader's classrooms helping with reading and spelling, and for my 7th grader, I do the bulletin board for the library, trying to get the tweens and teens to read more.

Outside of K-8 school - I am a hospice volunteer. I have really enjoyed it, and while I have had only 2 patients in the last year (and 1 is still living), I have found the interaction fascinating and rewarding. I am currently preserving the bereavement notices for the home health and hospice company I volunteer for - they want to have a memory book for the staff to look at of the patients that were under their care.

At church I work with the 8-11 year old girls, holding 2x a month activities to foster friendships, empower them as girls, and just have fun.

I've thought about CASA as well as Ronald McDonald House and pediatric hospitals.

I have always been a pretty active volunteer at DD's schools and used to serve on the board of our HOA. One of the things I'm looking forward to most about our future location is getting involved with sea turtle conservation. It was actually a pretty major reason for us choosing the city we did.
