"Just For Today" megathread. Post little announcements, petty rants, small victories, and superficial confessions here for one day only. But please please please consider opening new threads too. We nosy chickens want to read all the details and talk everything over ad nauseum too.

I could barely pull myself out of bed today. My alpaca blanket was so soft and warm and the air was so cold.

I yelled at the kids this morning, and DS cried. Then I went to his parent teacher conference, and she told me how awesome he was. I feel like such a terrible mommy; I almost went into his classroom and apologized to him after the meeting... I did tell him I'm sorry afterwards at home, but we were rushed, and I wasn't very sincere.

That LDW FB group is over moderated. I am very close to dropping out because I really only joined to see what others were talking about.

I joined out of curiosity after seeing it mentioned here, but I quickly hid it all from my feed because it was too much, and I very rarely even go look at what people are posting. I much prefer it over here.

I've been feeling little hints of a cold-like illness all weekend but between the adrenaline of working 3 busy days straight and sheer willpower I apparently managed to hold it off, that is until today. I woke up this morning feeling awful and it's only gotten worse as the morning's worn on . Boooo

Such an annoying morning. My dad put in orders for a urinalysis and wrote a prescription for antibiotics for a UTI (hubby was being weird and wouldn't do it for me). There are 2 places I could have gone - the main hospital campus, or the new primary care area across the street, both of which have a lab and a pharmacy. I figured he probably sent it to the main campus, because that's where his clinic is, and I assume that's where he sends his usual patients. So, I get to the lab, and they don't have the appointment, but they can see the orders, so they schedule the appointment and have me take a seat. I figure this is weird, usually they just give me the cup when I check in, and I bring it back, but whatever. 30 minutes later, nobody has called me, and I can only hold it so long, so I went and asked, and they said oh, you should have gotten a cup, so they gave it to me, and I finally got that over with. Then I go to the pharmacy, but they tell me that me prescription is ready at the pharmacy across the street. Awesome - I should have just started over there, where the lab is smaller, and I wouldn't have wasted so much time.

Finally in my office, and the A/C is off again, and my office is so warm. Thankfully I planned for this and am wearing a sleeveless, short dress. It's still a pain though. I need Monday to be over.

Oh, and I accidentally turned my alarm off instead of snoozing this morning, so I was already running late. And E woke up while I was trying to get ready, although to be fair, she went to bed early after skipping her afternoon nap and being super grumpy, so she did sleep for about 11 hours, nursed, then slept for another hour.

Oh nooooo! I've had 2 colds since getting pregnant, and it is so miserable to not be able to take cold medicine! I used a lot of saline nasal spray and some Vicks Vapo-Rub. And I whined a lot. Feel better!

Aloy- Does your hubby have an independent license? (Some residents get one to moonlight) I didn't think residents could legally write orders or prescriptions without that as they're tied to their program and the attending oversight. Some of it is dependent on the state medical licensing board of course.

This. If it makes you feel better dh will not write scripts for family or anyone that doesn't have a medical record he can tie it to.

Yeah - that was an issue with my DH - or something similar. I think he could write one for things like UTI meds though. He just didn't have his own dea number. But anyway, he NEVER writes them anyway. (He did once for something that is super common and I had been prescribed 100 times before, but just because it was an emergency). It does kind of annoy me, but even now, he doesn't really even know how to call Rx's in because his nurse does it for him.

But I will say that he looked at my file (at my request, I was sitting next to him) on the hospital's system and got a call like 10 minutes after (on a Saturday) asking him why he was looking at a file for a patient he wasn't treating. Crazy! Apparently it was non-issue since I had designated him as my personal representative. But I also just make sure now that I have an authorization and release of protected medical info made out to him at all my doctors. So anyway, I'm not sure his current hospital system is super friendly about writing Rx's for family members. So I guess I can kind of see how your DH may have been nervous about it as a resident.
