"Just For Today" megathread. Post little announcements, petty rants, small victories, and superficial confessions here for one day only. But please please please consider opening new threads too. We nosy chickens want to read all the details and talk everything over ad nauseum too.

          Awwww!
Cassy, I love you -- I really hope I handled that well.

You shouldn't feel terrible - the only reason I did was because my grandparents didn't know yet, and my grandmother loves to passive aggressively punish... *sigh*

Just got a sneak peek of our family photos. Totally disgusted by how much weight DrK and I have gained since our last family photos.

I usually shut down my FB wall if I have news (pregnancy or impending birth) because I don't want people to accidentally post. We were SO excited to announce that C was a girl and her name and DH's little cousin announced it on FB before we could (tagging him in the process). It was innocent, she was just really excited for us but it still kinda sucked.

So, now I just put everything so I have to review it before it gets posted to my wall -- which has actually come in handy because I've had some weird incidents where C is at a playgroup and a mom posts photos and tags me in EVERY photo including 30 that my child isn't in. I don't really want you tagging/posting pics of my child anyway and it's beyond strange that you'd tag me in ALL the photos because my child is in a few.

Such an annoying week. Last night hubby couldn't find his phone when he got home, so after calling it over and over, he finally found it in the recycling bin, which he had put out by the road before he came inside - it must have fallen out of his pocket while he was doing that. He called me at 5:30 (I don't normally wake up until 6:30-7) saying he couldn't find his ID badge, and he was afraid it had fallen in the bin too. I went and looked, but it was still dark outside and I couldn't find it with a flashlight (plus some neighbors walked by and I'm sure it looked super sketchy), so I gave up for then. I went back out around 7, and I did find it in there. He owes me big for this one!!

Then, I normally work at the hospital on Thursdays, but since we have an all day faculty retreat this Thursday, I'm working at the hospital today. I get here, and the air is off again. At least this time I'm not sick, and I layered with a tank top, so it's somewhat bearable. This is so ridiculous though - it's either off and completely miserable, or freezing and close to miserable (except at least with cold I can plan ahead and wear layers). Hopefully it will cool off soon, otherwise I'll go back to my campus office.

My friend in Oregon who was one of my bridesmaids popped up on my Facebook feed, tagged in a photo of her at her baby shower. I cringed for her when I saw that, because clearly she didn't intend to make an announcement. But after I got over feeling bad for her (I still don't know if she had a specific reason not to announce but she isn't big on Facebook sharing at all) and feeling bad for me (I cannot believe how out of touch I am with everyone I ever cared about that I don't even get to share in these little joys) I wrote her a little pen-and-paper note to say hi, and since I couldn't unsee what I saw, I congratulated her and will send her a little baby gift before long...

Came into work and opened my email to find 3 passive aggressive emails from my immediate boss. Instead of asking for follow up and status updates, she is very nasty to me in all of them. She sent them to me on my day off. She doesn't personally engage or nicely ask for follow up. I am so sad that I came into this and that my work environment is turning into a nasty place.

Maintenance woman just walked into my office while I was pumping. I have a big "PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB" sign that I hang on the doorknob, and the door was shut. This is my secondary office, which doesn't lock from the inside, and pretty much nobody is ever over here, so it's not usually an issue. She came by to bring a fan, although it's much cooler in here now and I don't really need it anymore. She knocked, and I said hold on a minute, and she just opened the door. I was turned around, and my shirt mostly covered everything, but still. I am SO ready to be done pumping. A month and a half to go!!!!!

The $$$ photographer I really like here is doing a fall mini-session and I snagged a spot for way way less than her going rate.

It's on location, at a barn. Wheeee!

Adoption? I have been away to long, I have no idea what that is about! But good luck!

Mine: Installing custom cabinets takes a LOT of time - they're finishing day 4 here of installing cabinets and I think they'll be here at least all week. (They're also doing the trim, baseboards, etc.)

Got to see the peanut again today! S/he had hiccups . It was moving around a ton but it took 30 minutes of awkward belly jiggling to finally get it to flip on it's back so we could get a profile shot. Stubborn little booger. I'm pretty sure I'm incubating a tiny Angelina Jolie though -- it's lips looked huge!
