"Just For Today" megathread. Post little announcements, petty rants, small victories, and superficial confessions here for one day only. But please please please consider opening new threads too. We nosy chickens want to read all the details and talk everything over ad nauseum too.

Rave: my baby slept 8-5 and then went back to sleep and is still sleeping (it's 8 AM)

Rant: DH on call this weekend with no intern (bc interns are GS for Uro, they only get 50% of the time), the most indecisive senior resident, and the dept Chair who scares everyone completely shitless (and terrifies the sr resident). I don't expect to see him

Rave: my best friend is coming to keep us company for the weekend!!!

I just purchased over $200 worth of candy and non candy items (that's about 1500 pieces total) to pass out on Halloween and my neighbors said we will still very likely run out, lol. So excited!! We have never lived anywhere that has had more than 5 or 6 trick or treaters.

My workout time is my me-time. It may not be the most effective workout, but I get some movement in while reading and/or catching up on social media. I don't like classes or working out with others. I reluctantly agreed to meet a friend today for weight training, my one kid-free morning of the week when I don't have scheduled errands. She asked to meet about 30 minutes later than I usually come to the gym, and she forgot something at home, so she's going back for it. I'm trying to have a good attitude because I really like her and want to hang out, but I'm seeing my free minutes fly away, and it'll be time to pick up the kids before I know it. /whine

              What kind of miscommunication?

There is one individual who sends me work-related e-mails, and she always addresses them to Ms. LastName. I don't care if people call me by my first name, but if you're going to use a title, use the appropriate title, which is Dr. LastName.

DD was sniffly from Monday night through yesterday and went to bed last night with a very mild fever, which is now gone but replaced with a horrid hacking cough that's kept her (and me) up since 6:30. It's a school day, her only full Friday this month. To send her or not to send her? Part of me jealously wants to keep her home (love my little girl, and she got SO MUCH MORE educational stuff done yesterday than she ever does at school) but part of me selfishly wants to send her and have my few precious free hours, especially after we consumed Monday with hiking (totally fun to hang out with DH and hike, but still not my quiet personal time or effective catch-up around the house.) I actually craved my walk yesterday and didn't get to go as fast as I wanted, so missing it today (and likely through the weekend since DH is working) will drive me nuts!

Hm. Just a few minutes until I start the household moving, and she's still up there coughing. I just don't know...

I'm about to have an appointment with my new PCP. I guess I should tell her husband is a resident. For some reason I don't really want to.

I'd correct her. You worked hard for it!

Ooh PM me with who you're seeing if you like her. I should probably get a PCP at some point. It's only been four years. Hahaha

The K Bros are driving me absolutely freaking nuts and I just realized that DrK is on call all weekend.

Hubby and I are going to try Parents' Night Out at church for the first time tonight. For $5/child ($20/max per family), they watch your kids from 6-9pm. They'll feed them if you bring food. It's during and past E's bedtime, and hubby is on call, so it may not even work out, but since we haven't had a date night since our anniversary in December, I decided it was time to try it. We won't leave her until 9, but we're going to try to at least go somewhere for dinner (driving separately, of course).

This is so upsetting to me - knowing if we stay here that renovations are unavoidable. How do live for that long without a kitchen?
