  • My dogs are tunneling, again.

It's a Husky thing, but ahhhhhh! Stop!
How can I put a stop to this, given what's going on in my life right now?
I need the cheat sheet answer, please.

    Thanks!

Hmmm. My cousin's dog used to do this, too. Can they be corralled to dig in one spot?

Oye, my dogs are just a foot or so away from getting under the house and I'm struggling trying to find a solution too. I filled one of the bigger holes they'd dug with sand and put fencing around it so they'd leave it alone -- well they just knocked over the fence and now the yard has dirt AND sand sprayed all around. They seem to like softer areas of ground best, so my next plan is to fill up the baby pool with sand or loose dirt and see if they'll congregate inside of it instead. I may bury some cheap toys in there too to give them some incentive. I've also started letting them out in multiple short intervals, like 10 minutes at a time 5 or 6 times a day or more. Mine don't run immediately to the holes and start digging when I let them out, they seem to have to work their way up to it so if I can get them in before they get really worked up that seems to work better.

I put a piece of my dog's poop in any new hole I find and it stops her from continuing to dig in *that* spot. It doesn't stop her from making new holes but hey it's a start.

Is it that they're bored and have energy to burn? Any doggie daycares nearby that you can utilize a couple times a week?

Sprinkle/dust where they dig. ...they shouldn't want to keep going with a noseful.

                  My dogs are tunneling, again.

I did the cayenne pepper thing. It worked at first, then he realized if he kept his nose off the dirt until he dug a bit then the powder was gone and he could keep digging.

If you try it make sure you reapply after rain or wind.

So yesterday, my good child disappeared. I caught the one that likes to try and kill himself (to get attention) alone in the backyard, looking rather worried. I yelled for my Aspy dog, and heard him frantically whining from my neighbor's yard. He had tunneled under the fence. This house is currently vacant, for sale, and has a pool, so I had to call my vet and ask for "the usual signs and symptoms of potential poisoning", just in case he got ahold of something.

I stood there, and waited for T to come back through his tunnel to our yard, because I had no way of getting into the other yard.
                    "Get back over here now!"

"You got under it once, you'll have to do it again. Come here. Now."
*whine whine whine* (squishes under fence, while squealing like a pig)

Off to Home Depot for stake barriers... *facepalm*
