  • Music?

So, the new job involves lots of repetitive computer tasks and the staff is allowed to listen to music with headphones.

Help me update my music library.

I'm looking mostly for uptempo stuff to keep me awake.

What do you like to listen to?

Sylvan Esso is fun and if you haven't had an Alt-J phase yet they're good too. And then of course The Knife and Fever Ray.

Rat Tat Tat. I don't listen to it, but C does when he's studying or dictating or operating

Depends on what kind of music you like... I like a lot of indie with an electronic slant, so I've been enjoying Sylvan Esso as well. My stand bys for working are Chvrches, Purity Ring (a little slower but their cover of Soulja Boy's "Grammy" is the best thing I've ever heard) The Naked & Famous, and Polica.

If you like your music on the folksier side, I also listen to a lot of Trampled By Turtles, the Head & the Heart, and Brandi Carlile.

Anyway, none of those are groundbreakingly new, but they get the most play in my car.

What kind of music do you like? I'm partial to Rilo Kiley and Camera Obscura.

You know, cheesy stuff. The stuff that no one admits they like. That.

I like boy bands and Katy Perry and Pink and one hit wonders.

              Weirdest musical selections for me.

I love The Dropkick Murphys, Garbage, Cake, Korn, big band jazz, Russian romantic-era composers, System of a Down, Tantric, and a bunch of random small bands from PDX.

It's a strange hodge-podge and probably SUPER unhelpful.

Yeah, and my dirty little music secret is that I like Nickleback and Daughtry. Sigh

DD, I'm with you on Dropkick Murphys and Garbage. I've been listening to a lot of Green Day lately.

I saw Garbage at a festival show in Portland a long time ago. They were having technical issues and ended up doing their set without most of their electronics. Considering how synth heavy they are and their reputation for being a studio band and not good live, I was SHOCKED that their acoustical set was amazing.

My latest download was House of Pain's Jump Around.

Vampire Weekend's latest was pretty nice. We saw this group and bought their latest stuff: Dirty Bourbon River Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nY58VG0laBw

I'm still partial to Billy Bragg. Saw him last month and fell in love again. Politics and a spare sounding guitar? With a cockney accent?? Sign me up.

I stream pandora at work. I paid the annual fee to eliminate ads. Totally worth it. Then you're always getting a variety of music and some new songs.
