My rave has become a rant. Here's what happened. The local team was doing well today so I persuaded DrK to go to the store with me. I had my eye on a $750 light fixture that would have been reduced to about $550 or more when the game ended. The game was ending soon. Also, we have about 16 rooms to furnish so we are looking for a lot of furniture.

We walked into the store and DrK asked the owner several questions about the light fixture. Then we looked at the rest of the store and considered a headboard, coffee table, and a painting. By then the game had ended and I went to talk to the owner. Here's how it went down.

MrsK: Hi. We have some questions. There is a painting in the back that we like but cannot see the price tag. Also, we are very interested in this light fixture. What's the best you can do on that?

Owner: Oh, we just got that in. In fact, there is a couple in Oklahoma who want it and I'm waiting for them to call me with their credit card number. So, I really cannot lower the price.

MrsK, ranting in my head: *Liar! I've been stalking this fixture for two months. Your employee told me yesterday that you've are selling it for your BFF so you've been unwilling to lower the price. But your employee also told me that this is included in your football promotion so I want the discount.*

MrsK, smiles and says: Oh, but it's part of the football promotion, right?

Owner: Um...but I can't do that until the game is over. Is the game over? Let me check (logs on to the internet)

MrsK, smiles: The game just ended. Our guys did great today. They won. Scored 24 points.

Owner: Well, let me call this couple in Oklahoma and see if they are still interested. (proceeds to call) "Ok then, so I'll mark it sold." (presumably selling it to them for full price).

Then she very helpfully told us that it *would have been* 24% off but the Oklahoma couple bought it first. But she'd be happy to sell us anything else we'd like for 24% off.

Whatever. Really, this is wrong on so many levels. She didn't mention the "couple in Oklahoma" when she was answering DrK's questions before we attempted to negotiate the price and before the game ended. In fact, that would have been a good time to bring it up because she could have pressured him to pull the trigger. If I'd been willing to pay the listed price, she would have sold it to me right out from under the couple in Oklahoma which would have been totally rotten of her if there actually was a couple in Oklahoma. If she did sell it to the couple in Oklahoma, they paid 24% more than they should have. And, it appears, that there probably is NOT a couple in Oklahoma and she just called her BFF who was probably watching the game too and "sold" it just so she could avoid selling it at a reduced price. Now I'm wondering if I should stop by tomorrow just to see if it's got a sold tag on it or not.

Now it's not my favorite furniture consignment store any more....

Holy crap MrsK that's a big ole load of bull shit right there. Pretty sure that'd be the last business that place ever got from me.

T&S I hope you feel better soon! :/

Rant: Ever since the weather got colder and dryer about two weeks ago, I developed little cuts from dry lips in the corners of my mouth and they will. not. freaking. heal. Every time I smile or eat a meal the cuts just open right back up. Not only does it hurt like a mofo but it just looks like I have a wicked herpes outbreak.

I get that too. Such a pain because it's not like you can just keep your mouth closed until it heals :/ At one point, I had a dr prescribe something for me (an ointment of some kind). If you have a derm appointment coming up, maybe ask? (Or ask your OB - why not).

That would be just shy of 200 bars of soap and small spheres to embed into another 48 bar batch.

I think it's also linked to Vitamin B deficiency. I used to get that all the time. PITA. Hope they heal for you and take some vitamins!

Weird! I would have never associated this with a vitamin deficiency. I take prenatals every morning and just checked to see that it had B in it (it does, 100% of -1, -2, -6 and -12). I get this occasionally but this is by far the longest I've had them without them healing on their own. I've been just putting my usual Burts Bees chapstick on them but I'll start the vaseline tonight, see if they improve.

Niener, Vaseline and Neosporin worked on me if you want to try that too. Kris, I know it's soap but it looks yummy!
