I'm looking for recommendations for facial creams/lotion for general care/anti-aging. I currently use nothing. My skin is fairly normal but I want to do what I can now....

I use a moisturizer Kris' sister made for me, Simple Ultra Light Gel moisturizer, and moisturizer from Manuka Doctor made with manuka honey and bee venom. Really sensitive skin and picky skin here

Personally I like a good wallop of retinol, so when not preggo I use Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair or Rapid Wrinkle Repair. I don't have active wrinkles yet (except for that one crease between my eyebrows from squinting) but it helps with breakouts and tone too. Even though I know you can use those while pregnant, I switched back to my homemade mix of argan, rosehip, and tea tree oils for now.

I'm all about obagi lately. I love the vitamin c. Think it makes a big difference. (I have to get this at the dermatologist).

Kate Summerville cyto cell is good stuff too (sephora).

I'm a huge fan of retin-a. 42 and only the faintest creases starting.

I should probably start a moisturizer at some point...

I use obagi too. It's was recommended by my facialist. I really like the eye cream which you can purchase through amazon.

Okay...I should start over. What is your face care regimen? What do you use? Apply morning or night? I never was into this before but I want to start taking better care of my skin.

I use CeraVie. Foaming facial cleanser in the morning and at night. Then the moisturizing lotion. I usually apply a thin layer on my face then several times around my eyes. Before I moved to CeraVie I used Cetafiile. Nothing too crazy about my regimen.

I used to do facial cleansing cloths and the 7 in one moisturizer from Olay. Since kids, my skin is different, and it was overly moisturized, which was causing breakouts.
I have switched to Stelatopia from Mustela, or just cetaphil for cleansing (and notice a huge difference!), but the cetaphil moisture cream is too much. I need to find an everyday moisturizer/anti-aging product that won't gunk me up, and is affordable.

I have dry slightly sensitive skin, and some redness/broken capillaries; I've recently been using Clinique's anti-redness line plus their super-gentle toner and a couple of their moisture surge creams, too. Cleaner and toner once a day, moisturizer(s) twice a day. I love that clinique has no added fragrance. Stinky stuff on my face bugs me.

How did you decide which lotions to try? Should I just go to Macy's and try stuff out?

Mine was recommended by a dermatologist. I have sensitive skin that gets dry. I'm not doing any special anti aging thing but just moisturizer seems to work quite well.

I think you'd be better off getting a facial (maybe even at the dermatologist - many times those estheticians are the best - unless you're in a spa town). Then having them give you recommendations based on their assessment of your skin. Don't buy all of it. But maybe start with a serum, moisturizer, and eye cream.

Make sure the moisturizer has SPF. You obviously don't need the SPF at night, so eventually you may want a different moisturizer for day/night. After that I'd add in an exfoliator - at first you can just use some baking soda, which works as well as most.

I've also had really good luck with people that use dermatologica products for facials if you don't want to go to a dermatologists office.

Anyway, after those initial recommendation, you can swap out the stuff you don't like with other brands. Also try a facial with someone else and see what products they think you could use.

I wouldn't waste cash on an expensive cleanser. It just doesn't seem worth it to me.

                            That's how I'd start anyway.

Re- exfoliation: I use a washcloth gently on my face when I shower every other day.
