  • iPhone rant

We just got new phones and a new service provider. DH decided to get iPhones.

I hate mine. Nothing about it is intuitive like my Samsung Galaxy. The keyboard sucks. Why do you have to switch to the numbers screen for a blasted period. Everything requires accessing iTunes.

Make me feel better. iPhones are awesome because?

You don't have to switchc to the number screen for the period. Double spacing will auto-enter a period.

I'm busy trying to find good things. My phone functions as a pedometer for lose it.

      Thanks for the period tip!!!

Hang in there. Didn't Thomas do this to you a little over a year ago? It'll grow on you, hopefully.

But if you do throw in the towel I recommend my phone, the Samsung SGH-A107. Does everything you need a phone for, and the battery lasts over a week with ordinary use! (Disclaimer: it does very little that you need an SMS device or wifi or 3G for...)

We had to switch service providers. They never resolved the issue of dropped calls. We tried wifi calling but experienced outages there too. Seriously I could be on my sofa in our house with my phone in my hand. I would suddenly get a voicemail alert, call the person back and discover they had called but my phone hadn't rung. Already I have service in my house and dh has service in the hospital! The hospital recommended iPhones for their encrypted txt program so iPhone it was. I'm still getting used to it. I need positive encouragement. LOL

I'd recommend going to the website and looking up shortcuts. There are loads of them for various functions.

It's no secret I hate iphones, but I have one for my work line because of the work software, and I downloaded the free Swiftkey keyboard to use instead of the iphone keyboard. It makes it a bit more like using an android. You'll need to have the latest OS update to use a non-native keyboard. And... just because Thomas needed an iphone doesn't mean you need one too!

I know. It's weird but we want to have the same things. It's how I picked my car color too. I'm basically lame.

Thanks Tara. We love that we both have VW's with the same paint color and auto body shape. It's silly, but it makes me feel close to dh. We try to stick together

I loathe the day I downloaded the latest iOS update. Before that, my phone was fine. Now it's possessed by something evil.

Me too. Comfort yourself by remembering that learning new things is good for our brains as we get older. We all like what we know; it's easy. I've been pissed at having to learn different ways of doing everything since we have a different version of Microsoft office at my office, but hey, I'm working towards better neuro plasticity, right?

It's a good machine. It just takes some getting used to new shortcuts and habits. I'd be screeching if I had an android, and they are good machines too.

It really does take getting used to Angie. I know a few years ago we had iPhones and I was happy. DH came home with Androids and I melted down complete with ugly crying. Then I fell in love with my Android. I'll get through this. ☺️
