    "Just For Today" megathread.

Post little announcements, petty rants, small victories, and superficial confessions here for one day only. But please please please consider opening new threads too. We nosy chickens want to read all the details and talk everything over ad nauseum too.

DH isn't on call. We're at an amusement park. He just got paged. Someone messed up the call list. Ugh.

Today was a lovely day. DH caught the Mr Helpful bug and did all kinds of tasks around the house, the weather was perfect (albeit warm for near Dec -- 72 and sunny, as it's predicted to be all week) so I took all the dogs for good long walks, I made lists, crossed things off the list, bought an adorable baby present on etsy for a friend, watched a little football, installed an extra tall baby gate near the front door for the dogs so now I don't have to foot wrestle them to get in and out (seriously why did I not think of this earlier -- genius). Lots of piddly little things that have needed doing got done, it feels so nice when that happens.

Fussy, teething baby with a low grade fever. I'm fairly certain the fever is from teething, and debating sending her to daycare tomorrow. After the last 2 weeks, I absolutely cannot take a day off. My mom can come help out, but I know she isn't excited about it.

So sad for everyone involved.
I hadn't heard about this, but it sounds so awful.

Yesterday, while doing a good deed (washing the coffee carafe), I broke it.
Day 2 of no homemade coffee in the a.m.

Tylenol and ibuprofen both keep the fever down (I usually do tylenol during the day and ibprofen at night). Her temperature never hit 101, and she's got 4-5 teeth that are very clearly about to break through.

It was a long day of hubby on call and me basically waiting around all day for him so that we could put up the Christmas tree. When will I learn..... Basically, he headed in this morning to round on a couple of patients and do 2 stone cases. What should have been a couple of hours turned into an all-day thing with more consults and a delayed OR. He didn't get home until 6pm. I don't normally sit around and "wait". But, it just seemed like each time he called, it was only going to be an hour or so. Ugh, it was like residency all over again.

The new attending job is way busier than the Navy was. I am having a bit of trouble acclimating to the lifestyle change. Anyway, just wanted to vent. I knew you guys would understand

I've been on the receiving end of those phone calls before. We're not at attending level yet but I can imagine the frustration. Did you ever get the tree up? :/

Thanks for the hug . No, didn't get the tree up. If I'd started in the morning, I would have had plenty of time to assemble it and put lights on, so the kids could decorate it. But I kept putting it off until I had "help". But the help never came! I'll do it this week sometime.
