    Preserving boxwood wreath

    Anyone have some experience and/or ideas how to preserve a boxwood wreath? I bought one and would like to keep it all year long. Last year, I got one too but did nothing to it and it obviously turned yellow and became brittle. I looked at pintrest and googled but all the posts are about preserving a wreath you are about to make. Mine is already made and now I just need to figure out how to keep it nice for a while.

      Silica gel? You can buy it at stores like Michael's in large quantities for plant drying.

          Yeah, but it is quite large. I was wondering if there was a spray. I may stop at a craft store and ask.

            Just spritz it with water regularly ??

              Yes, that is what it says to do but I want to presrve it for longer than the holiday. Maybe there isn't a way unless you begin with preserving the fresh branches before the wreath is made.

                I would buy a few large bags of the silica gel. Pour some in a large enough container (like a large Rubbermaid storage bin), nestle the wreath into the layer, and then gently cover the rest of the wreath with silica gel over the top. This should dry it out well within 24 hours.

                Some silica gels are also reusable. I had some that I reused a few times for drying out dunked cell phones.

                    Works waaaaaaaay better than rice. Particularly if you vacuum out the excess moisture first.
