Just had my 18th wedding anniversary. I have a nearly 17-year-old son. I've had a mammogram. I feel super old, tired, and grumpy.

    But...

People in my college classes assume that I'm close to their age.

    I still get carded occasionally.

      25th anniversary coming up....check
have the child of a former student as a student....check

Not a whole lot makes me feel young these days, but I am okay with that. The past 20 years of raising children has been exhausting lol!

Having a son the same age as my brother when he became an "oops" father at 18. Having a niece that's getting married (said oops baby).

Roots. (My daughter told me I should let my hair go totally white. She says I look young enough that people would think it was a fashion statement. Lol. )

Back in my day thoughts like "I actually remember President Reagan in office, and people, it wasn't like you think."

Realizing I was a kid in FL when Disney opened for the first time.

What makes me feel young? My 75 year old mother still acts like she's 50. I think she's pretty freaked out she's 75. If she's 50, I can't be over 30, right?

I never get carded. But then... I never got carded when I was 17 either. I've got one of those mature looks about me.

Me too. I still remember when MTV showed music videos and watching the "VJs" freaking out about Kurt Cobain's suicide.

We recently went on a trip with my best friend and her family. I knew her and her husband in college - over 20 years ago. We were all sitting on the floor of a hotel room getting a little drunk while the kids ate pizza and watched cartoons when it occurred to me that we were all grey haired 40 year olds. When did that happen? It felt like a scene from The Big Chill. And, yes, I remember The Big Chill.

K1 has since become obsessed with my friends who knew me before daddy. He's been asking if we were at each others weddings. When I told him that I was my friend's maid of honor, he concluded that I helped her "to be brave and not say any bad words at her wedding." He summed it up pretty well.

              Also too old....

The kids all wear their hair too long.

I think most "hipsters" look ridiculous.

The music is always too loud and I have never heard of any of the musicians on the Grammys.

The other day, our babysitter admired my leopard print leggings. I asked her if I looked like Mrs Robinson. She said "no"....waited a couple beats... then asked, "Who's Mrs. Robinson? "

I'm totally intimidated by new technology.

So inevitably I get the "wooooooah no way, you don't look that old!"... yes, yes I am *that* old. Thank you. The reverse of that is anytime I meet someone my age or older and they assume I'm much younger and address me as such, which makes me feel like I'm about 10. I'd rather feel old than 10.
Uh, yea at the beginning of every school year I'm asked by both students and staff at the high school what grade I'm in. Being short doesn't help.

I had a sixth grader inspect my hair this week to assure me she didn't see any gray.
