"Just For Today" megathread. Post little announcements, petty rants, small victories, and superficial confessions here for one day only. But please please please consider opening new threads too. We nosy chickens want to read all the details and talk everything over ad nauseum too.

Should have done it weeks ago, but I finally filed my PTO for Christmas. A whole week and a half off work, no traveling, nothing to do but nest and cook a nice dinner for me and DH. I'm literally aching for it.

Last and busiest week of the semester. Just have to get through the next 5 days and then I can worry about if my ducks are in a row for Christmas.

When did life become so stressful?

Good, but busy weekend for me.. Saturday I walked in a 5k with my daughter in the morning. Then I lead Christmas carols at a nursing home with the kids for the kid party at our church. Sunday was our big Christmas program at church. I directed a brass ensemble and lead the hymns, sang in the choir and led my children's choir. Then we dashed off to make it to my daughter's violin recital in a town an hour away. But that is it for me for Christmas. I have no more recitals or Christmas programs. They were all the first two weeks of December this year. Hubby just came and watched the Christmas program and the violin program. Other than that he just rested. We sat on the couch and watched the entire Dallas Cowboy game. I cannot remember a time when he has ever sat down for an entire football game.

Looking forward to picking up my oldest from college on Wednesday. He only has one more final tomorrow.

Sorry the rest of your Christmas' are pretty stressful.. I hope you can hang in there until December 26th.

I finally got my coffee going in the Keurig and then walked away to sit down as the coffee started pouring. 😂 DD14 finished making my coffee.

Racing to the airport to catch my last biz flight home for 2014 (if I make it). I'm so happy I get 3 weeks off from airports!!!!

Pedicures with girlfriends today. Went to hooters for lunch...first time ever. Best bacon cheeseburger in a long time. Dying over my gf asking our waitress if her boobs were real or fake. (Fake) if it was painful and where did she have it done.
                    I. Was. Dying. Lol. The waitress was very cool about it.

I started my new job 8 weeks ago. At that time, my hiring manager was (and still is) running around like a chicken without a head because she has entirely too much on her plate. My position was one of 5 empty positions.

The department has 3 types of positions. Mine is the entry level, and there are 8-10 of those. We still have an opening for one more. Above me, there are 3-5 positions. One new hire started when I did and there is still one more opening. Above that are 2 analysts. One of them has been with the organization since May and was just promoted to a management position. Essentially, they split the management of the department in half. I am under the new manager.

Last week, I talked to her and she agreed that I need to apply for her old position. Today she pulled me aside and said that she talked to my original hiring manager and she also thinks I need to apply for it.

This would be a raise of a minimum of $0.80 an hour if I hired at the bottom of the pay grade. If I were hired at the top of the range for new hires, it would be over $2.50/hour more.

Obviously there is no guarantee that I will get the job, but holy shit y'all. That would be an awesome deal.
