Should I go fake this year?

We always go out to the tree farm and cut down our own tree. This year, we couldn't get scheduled to gel. We are still treeless. The soonest we could all go out is Sunday.

Should I get an artificial tree? We could use it decoratively next year.

I am the wrong person to ask.. My mom was an assistant fire marshal. She hated live trees and showed me how quickly they go up in flames so we have always had a fake tree. I won't have a real one. My mother made me aware of the fire danger of quite a few things. ( I always look for an exit from my hotel, new buildings, etc.)

Don't you love to watch movies with fires in them with those people!!! ( NOT!!! They won't quit yelling at the screen. They are dead. They don't have their oxygen tanks on. You wouldn't be able to see in there!!!)

Sorry, back to the scheduled thread! Do whatever is easiest. One year we didn't have a tree and my mom tied bows on our pencil plant. http://thehometome.com/tag/pencil-cactus/ ( ours was 6 foot tall in a pot.) So do what you want!!! Have a new tradition this year if you want don't even have a tree. Have a decorated fireplace or something.

Yep, we bought one of these a few years ago. Hubby and I both agree it is the best thing we ever did.

Could you meet somewhere in the middle and get a real tree from a lot close by (even if it's just you and Thomas, you could make it a pre-Christmas date) and then the family could do the lighting and decorating of the tree?

Yup love my fake one. We got a quick set tree this year, Huzzah! Amazeballs!

And, behind it, I have a tart warmer with a fir-scented tart in it.

We've always had fake trees until this year. Our real tree was super easy, though. We went to Home Depot and got a small one. They cut off a couple inches from the base for us, trimmed the lower branches enough to fit in the stand, and threaded it into a mesh bag. It was small enough to fit inside DH's SUV, so we didn't have to strap it to the top. We have a Noble Fir, and it doesn't seem to shed much. (Our fake tree drops more plastic "leaves" than the real one has.) If you go real, do that!!

That said, I still prefer our fake tree. I feel much safer with it, and it's not an ongoing expense each year.

This afternoon, I asked Alex to babysit Zoe and Aidan so that I could go and get a tree.

"You're going to the tree farm?"
"No, I'm going to a tree lot. We just ran out of time."
"WHAT? We're not going to the tree farm? Well that's just sad. Really sad."

Aidan overheard us.
"We're not going to the tree farm? I want to go to the tree farm. I don't care if we get a tree late."

So. Tree farm Sunday it is.
