They told you Kris!!!!!! Enjoy the outing. I don't put up a tree these days, the cats think they are supposed to climb it and the dogs think they are supposed to pee on it. It is convenient to be married to someone Jewish this time of year! I just go to my daughter's to enjoy her tree.

Should I go fake this year?
We went with a fake this year. The kids were upset. My teenager in her angst wanted to cancel Christmas. I reminded her of her first world problem. When we put up the fakey, it was clear. I went to the tree farm yesterday.Needs

That's awesome Kris!! You all will have tons of fun!!
We grew up with artificial trees but dh and I have added a real tree to the mix about 6 years ago. I don't notice that they are all that much work tbh. The only issue is making sure it has water. Last year our tree went dry for about a day and would no longer draw up water so we pulled it down asap on the morning of the 26th. Removal here is easy, drop it at the curb and the city collects the treesTara

Well darn. We decided to go Sunday to get the tree and then we found out the tree farm we have used for 15 years shut down this year because so many of their trees died last year in our hellish winter!
We found a new place and reiterated our plans to the kids. Alex reminded us he had a longstanding snowboarding day planned and already paid for. Amanda piped in that she had agreed to work a double shift Saturday: 4pm-6am.
We went to Menards and looked at artificial trees. I had been earlier in the week and they were 25% off. The nicest one was $500 though. Turns out they reduced the prices to 60% off. They still had the nice tree available.
We bought it with the idea that we'll use it when the kids are gone and can set it up decoratively if we want.
I carried the box in and went to the bathroom. I walked into the living room and the tree was already up with colored LED lights twinkling! I can't believe how fast it went. Amazing.
We all feel a little bummed that it isn't real. But we have a tree and it looks nice. I don't have to worry about watering it or the animals drinking the water. No needles everywhere. No dragging it to the curb.
We got it late. I think I'll leave it up until February. LOLLast edited by PrincessFiona; 12-21-2014, 11:15 AM.~Mom of 5, married to an ID doc

We went fake this year after dh gauged the wood trim carrying our desiccated, stiff tree out last winter. And the needles!! Holy crap.
The fake one is really nice, but it was a huge pain to put together what with all the fluffing of the branches. We're probably going to cheat and defluff as little as possible and throw it on shelves in storage. I miss the pine smell!! But yeah, the cats liked to drink the water, and the one male cat thought since it was a tree, he needed to mark it. *eyeroll*
Do you think you'll do fake again next year or go back to real?
