Sports is why DH won't consider dropping cable. It also means we pay for premium cable. We have a smart TV, and I love it.

This article made me think of this thread. For $20/month people will soon be able to stream live sports from ESPN (and other networks). It's called Sling TV. I'm assuming that's different from Slingbox, which has been around for a long time.

It would be wonderful if they made a "channel" and allowed existing devices to stream it. There's already an ESPN channel on Roku, but it won't let you access content unless you are a provider subscriber (which we are not).
Even with a $20/mo subscription, it would still be more than 50% less than the basic cable package offering out here! What a racket!
(We pay for Internet only, currently).

Maybe they are making money on the device as well - and using the hardware to control login to a single subscription per location. Anyway, you could plug it in to a different hdmi slot on a single TV I guess.
I'm excited that HBO is considering offering HBO Go as a standalone next year too. Now....if MLB would just eliminate their blackout rules and let me stream local games legally, we will have arrived in the post cable era.
