  • New Years Eve Plans!

What do you have planned for tonight?

Amanda's working, so dh and I will be staying in. I'll probably drive by and visit Amanda at some point.

    Nothing exciting here.

Nothing really planned here. We were going to spend it with out of town friends either at their house or ours, but it didn't work out. We're all too tired to travel this year. We'll probably get the kids to bed and play video games until midnight. DH got a bottle of Asti, so we'll have some of that and talk about 2014 and 2015. Wild and crazy here!

Just another night for us. We don't generally celebrate New Year's Eve. We kind of celebrate New Year's Day- like a family day. I have strep throat and feel terrible and Dh is operating all day today. Hoping to make it to the grocery at some point today and build Legos with O.

Cassy, that sounds awesome! Sign me up

DH is grilling up a feast for the fam tonight, surf and turfs. I'm subbing snow crabs for the surf though.

We watched a family favorite last night (cheaper by the dozen) and we're watching the second one tonight. Eugene levy is hysterical. The kids camp out on the floor of our room.

Our ex neighbor had a tradition that her kids would all stay at her house and camp on the floors New Year's Eve. She had six kids, and it's the house they all grew up in. They would have a big dinner, and everyone stayed over for that one night each year. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and has passed on. That would be a fun tradition someday, but I'm not sure kids would always want to miss the NYE festivities. Maybe once everyone has settled down. I'll lay the groundwork while they are young and stuck here. Lol.

          Cassy, seriously, move closer!

I hate NYE because I don't like strangers, overpriced events, and drunk people so staying home and watching movies because I also hate Ryan Seacrest and ringing in the New Year with him is gross.

              This!

DH is on call so hopefully he will get home for a couple of hours tonight. I'm getting some yummy cupcakes and chocolate and having one last evening of junk food.

Well, we are splurging. We do not have cable and so we cannot watch our Bears play in the Cotton Bowl or any other bowl for that matter. So I found a great deal at a hotel in the town where the hospital is. We are staying there tonight and the next night. Hubby is on call tonight, but it is 5 minutes from the hospital. It is a 2 bedroom with full kitchen for 90 bucks a night. I'm rationalizing it by saying that it will cost less than 1 ticket to the Cotton Bowl ( tickets were 200 dollars each, 1000 for us all to go) Today is my daughter's 13th birthday so if hubby makes it there we will open her presents tonight. If not, it will be tomorrow. I'm off to pack the cooler with food. I've already packed the snacks. We normally take a trip after New Year's but decided to do this cheaper staycation/ football watching marathon.

We are happy to be home from our trip to KS, and plan on ringing in 2015 by staying home, watching movies, and snacking.

We're heading to my parents' house. You guys, I'm so over family time I can hardly stand it. If it weren't my sister's last night in town I'd bail. I feel horrible for feeling that way but I just want my pajamas and my own couch

DH and I are both coming off the tail end of the flu so it's movies in bed for us. We may go out to grab a bite to eat since we're feeling better today but still generally run down. It was a great ten day visit home so no guilt here about having a quiet, private NYE from bed!
