I didn't get much sleep and have a headache in spite of no alcohol. My plans are to sit on my ass and read all day bc I never get to do that.

        Happy New Year!!

We dozed a bit and let the kids play on our phones this morning. I'll make some black eyed peas to have with lunch. (Southern tradition - for luck and money in the new year)

It's astonishing. Back when I was young and poor, my vacuum broke and it took 6 weeks to save up for a decent new one. Those were the furriest weeks if my life. Yikes.

I have a broken spirit for cleaning. It all comes back so quickly. I'm evil because I'm enjoying watching my DH try to keep up with it this week while he's off. He's exasperated every time the dog walks through the room shedding or a kid outs down an empty dish on the counter. Weeeeeelcome to the party, sir. It's been going on for eighteen years! This is why I'm a haggard bitter old lady, over here.

Today, I'm recovering from staying up until three with a houseful of college kids. Not my party, but I'm feeling like I actually did something on NYE for a change. Everyone here is still soundly sleeping at 10:30.

After an awful night of sleep, content to lounge on the sofa and watch the Mummers parade, the Tournament of Roses parade and lots of college football.

Sleeping off the no fun from last night. Vegging on the couch with a headache, back ache and neck ache thanks to neighborhood fireworks until 3AM and a terrified puppy.

                  New Years Day

Started the day off with a yummy breakfast. O and I are laying on the couch watching Kiki's Delivery Service, while dh is still in bed. Supposedly dh is on call today. I'm starting to feel better but still fairly crappy.

Yummy! I finally tried oven bacon last year. Love it! So easy.

oven bacon is the only way I cook it now. Much less mess and potential for me to burn it (not saying I haven't burned oven bacon, it's just less likely ), plus I can thrown an entire package of bacon in at one time

We have always done oven bacon since we started wrapping scallops a decade ago and it was part of the recipe. I wondered why the hell I hadn't made bacon that way always. So much better.
