"Just For Today" megathread. Post little announcements, petty rants, small victories, and superficial confessions here for one day only. But please please please consider opening new threads too. We nosy chickens want to read all the details and talk everything over ad nauseum too.

Oops, it's been almost a week since we did this.

My mom is coming to town today. Of course, it's freezing. I'm so excited about showing her our new house!

Also, I think I landed my first personal organizing gig. One of the boys' teachers is getting ready to sell a 5bdrm home that she's lived in for 35 years. She's asked me to help declutter in preparation for selling and downsizing. I wasn't looking for work but she asked after she saw how I organized my own home. I'm a little nercited.

I let Zoe have a mental health day today after she gave me 5 different excuses of what was wrong with her when I woke her up in the morning. I've never let her do this before, but today she just seems off.

Any colds going around? Our kids always got like this when they were coming down with something.

Seems healthy. I couldn't get a read on what the problem was. I let today slide. It seems like she just needed today.

MrsK, awesome!!! Especially since it came from seeing your own home. I know you had talked about doing this before. Looking forward to hearing how this turns out.

I love school. Seriously love it. I'm at the private local one now and it is a HUGE difference from the place I used to attend. I have found my happy place. If only I had magical fairies to take care of the rest of my obligations!

(to remind...previous school treated students like children down to having to raise my damn hand to ask permission to pee!)

Congrats MrsK. I didn't know you were looking at jumping into personal organizing.

I'm still kicking it around. I looked into it about 3 years ago when the law firm closed. Actually, I was sort of discouraged by the folks here on imsn. But then I made a friend here who is an organizer (and mom to 3 within 4 yrs like me) and she's been encouraging me and having moved 7 times in 7 years and set up 7 homes....well, I've gotten pretty good at organization and I still don't hate it. But I figured I probably wouldn't have time until Lambie starts preschool. So, it's been simmering on the back burner. But I had casually mentioned it to this woman when she admired my home - that I'd thought about being a professional organizer - and a couple weeks later she's offering me a job.

I actually think that you'd be an amazing professional organizer. Tough with little ones? Maybe. But you'd be damn good at it.

Tough until they are all in school. Then it's pretty flexible with little overhead costs. DrK is worried that I'll end up working with hoarders and they'll freak me out. But most people don't hire organizers unless they are ready for a change.
