  • Pottery Barn can suck it

I posted a rave a few days ago that I had managed to get all the bedding items I wanted for a specific Pottery Barn set from their website--they were being clearanced out and kept going in and out of stock. I spent way too much time hitting refresh.

I got it in two orders:

    First Day
    --King Quilt
    --3 Standard Shams

Then the next day I noticed that they had the Euro shams back in stock, so I quickly ordered three and checked out. I called a rep to see if I could combine the orders to save on shipping and she said she would try, but since the stock was so low, I decided not to risk it. I am 100% positive that I ordered the 3 Euro shams. The second order was for well above $100. The rep I talked to confirmed it.

Well, the order containing the Euro shams arrived today and in the package was one standard sham. One $46 (with shipping) standard sham. I checked my email and the order confirmation is for one standard sham--I never bothered to open it because why on earth would it be any different than WHAT I FUCKING ORDERED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE? The only thing I can think of is something messed up when I submitted the order due to the low stock--they were out of stock again minutes after I checked out. I KNOW I did not order this--why on earth would I order one single standard sham when I had ordered 3 the day before?

So of course these are final sale and they wont let me return it. I pitched a fit and they offered a gift card. I said no and pitched a fit on their Facebook page instead--I got a response quickly and they offered a full refund for the sham. But of course there is no way to get the Euro shams now.

Here's the kicker, though--I think I hate the whole set now that I can see the fabric. This is it:

    http://www.potterybarn.com/products/...=PIPRecentView

The description is "Like the intricate embroidery that borders traditional silk saris, our handwoven cotton voile quilt features detailed stitching that’s all the more grand as the color transitions to vibrant red."

To me, that meant that it was a quilt with red stitching all over it. That's why I fell in love with it online--it looked so intricate and beautiful. In reality, it is a quilt made with fabric that had red stitching PRINTED on it. I'm so pissed. They don't do customer reviews anymore, so I had no idea. We are getting a king bed next year and I expect a bedding set to last for at least 5 years. This was freakin' expensive, even on clearance, for what it is. I figured Pottery Barn would be higher quality than that!

Wow, that really stinks!!! I am so sorry, I know what an investment a nice bedding set can be. Ugh, I wish I had a good idea. Sell it to someone else? It does look pretty online.

She is right. I'm guilty of that.

I just saw one listed on eBay with 2 shams. Maybe you sell it now! I have to say it looks beautiful.

I'd be super pissed ST, but the eBay idea is a good one.

I would be super pissed too, if I were in your shoes. Glad you complained and they realized the best course of action was to give you a full refund. Between this and the way my chair sat in their warehouse 10 miles from my house for 2 weeks before they delivered it, I am reluctant to order anything from them online. They suck!

That's so annoying. I heard PB has great cs... Maybe call again and speak to someone different?

I'd be pissed too. I love that set and totally thought it was embroidered! I agree about selling on ebay. I've gotten discontinued sets for my kids on there and paid dearly.

I think you should call back too. The product description is totally misleading.

Or if you decide to keep it maybe they can track down euro shams for you in a store?

I know they say it's not returnable but do you think another call might get them to change their mind if you work your way up the chain? PB sent us the wrong bed when I was a week away from delivery, had just moved and had five kids sleeping on the floor. They took pity on the crazy pregnant lady and let us keep the bed for the price of the one we had ordered, gave us a huge discount on top of that and then sent me a $250 gift card.

                      Good luck!!

Apparently social media works...someone emailed me and said I could return it all. I'm going to see if I maybe like the quilt enough to keep it, but otherwise it's alllllll going back. And I'm never ordering anything online from them again!

If you don't love it just send it all back. Bedding sets take up too much room in storage. (Says the girl who does not live in TX!! I think of everything in terms of where it will fit/and will it fit in my closet!!)
