  • Neat scanner vs fujitsu san snap ix500

Anyone here use these? According to the reviews, the Fujitsu (hardware wise) is better than the neat. There were several reviews that included jammed paper as an issue with the neat. A quick look on Amazon shows the fujitsu at 4.5 stars and over 1,600 reviews. However, it is about $100 more than the Neat. I am so sick of paper and not finding what I need when I need it. As soon as I discard it, I kid you not, Murphy's law comes and bites me in the butt and I need that receipt, doc, etc.

How do you manage/organize the kardashian buttload of documents if you do not use one of these type of scanners/software?

I used the Fujitsu at work: Adobe allows you to use keywords to search the scanned document's content, should you forget to label it correctly.

I made named digital files, then did 6 digit dating as the doc name

I'm glad you posted this, we've been looking at scanners casually for some time. I too need something to tame the paper. Thanks!

            Crickets.....

For those not scanning, how do you solve the document/receipt hassle?

              It makes a mess....

Actually, lots of places offer to email me receipts these days. For things with warranties etc, I just have three file cabinets full of the paperwork for that, medical stuff, insurance stuff, financial stuff etc. it certainly isn't the best method! But will places that are sticklers about "original receipts" take the scanned image?

I love ours. I'll check when I get a chance, but I'm pretty sure we have the Fujitsu scan snap S1300i. I don't scan things as searchable often because it dramatically increases the file size, but when I do it works well. It is extremely easy to use, things are scanned, saved as PDFs, and filed away. Most originals tossed/shredded. We are still working through the papers waiting to be scanned...the ones we let pile up when we had a cheapo scanner we hated using. It was worth the extra cost for us.

The other thing I did this week, and I still have a pile to go through, is downloaded all manuals and recycled the physical one. My DH has DRAWERS of electronic manuals, they're all going! Organization and LESS clutter is my only resolution for 2015.
