  • Have you ever won anything?

agin=anything. It won't let me edit the title.

I just won a rotissere chicken and free box of mac and cheese in the new price chopper sweepstakes. Once I won the dollar pool when I was a waitress at Olive Garden in College. I think I got $32 bucks. I've never won more than $5 on a scratch off ticket, but rarely play.

My brother won $1000 on a scratch off when he was a high school senior!

I've gotten pretty lucky in the past years. In highschool and college I applied to every and any scholarship I could find. I won a $500 amazon gift card from canyon and a free weekend at universal studios. I also went to LA with my mom a few years ago and won an xbox on the Ellen Degenerous show. From our local radio station I won tickets to Disney, baseball tickets, hockey tickets and concert tickets. We also won a photo contest for our wedding picture that got us a weekend trip and some restaurant gift cards.

I also "won" a grant that paid for grad school, but I had to apply and qualify for that, so I'm not sure if it really applies haha.

Here's the picture that won us the contest

I've never won anything that I can recall (so, probably nothing at all), but in Oct, my dad won $20k from a random scratch off.

Never. But then again you cannot win if you do not play. I never fill out, submit, call/write in anything.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Haha, but really...I have won little raffles in school...DH has better luck winning raffles and things. We generally don't play the lotto so no luck there. I find money a lot though (usually like $1 or $5...but a couple years ago I found $30 just sitting on the ground).

I'm not very lucky in "winning" things but I consider myself a fairly lucky person (I feel like I fall into small good things without really realizing what I'm doing).

              ^^ hahaha ST.

I've won a couple radio contests, the biggest being 2 tickets to a huge 3-day music festival (value over $500). I've never won any lottery or casino stuff but I can count on one hand the number of times I've played. I actually remember distinctly the first time I ever won anything - I was in middle school and was at a minor league baseball game one weekend, they drew ticket numbers to see who won a team jersey and picked my number. I totally freaked I was so excited, I'd never won anything before! Lol

I won a Phil Collins tape on the radio. Notice, TAPE. That's pretty much it.

I picked out a scratcher for my mom in 3rd grade and she won $250 if that counts? And I won a bike from a radio station in 1996. And Siouxsie and the Banshees tickets on the radio when I was 15. Apparently I listened to the radio a lot

                    OK, so kinda funny story.

It starts out with the understanding that I do not like college basketball, do not care about college basketball and am completely ignorant of all things about college basketball. Don't know, don't care, whatever.

With that understanding... several years back at the court where I work, the Clerk's Office organized an office pool (no money involved). But...you had no choice about (1) being enrolled (everyone was added) or (2) which team you were assigned. My team won. The whole she-bang. Maybe UNC? Whatever. Didn't even know the playoffs had occurred. I found out the next day at work. Everyone was congratulating me...as though I had accomplished something.

And then there was an awards ceremony...where I was awarded the grand prize of... A salsa-making kit. (Not kidding.) It was this assortment of hot sauces and spices, all sitting in a wooden spice rack.

The Chief Judge was passing out the prizes. He called me up, and--in his sort of federal judge-y kind of way--carefully explained the details of the cheesy salsa-making kit. He went over each spice, acknowledged each sauce. And he added: "And, look! It comes in this nice rack."

At which point, I quipped: "Great! It is what my husband has always wanted: for me to finally have a nice rack!"

I have no idea what on earth possessed me to say this. Oh, yeah--totally appropriate response to a federal judge. (Not as bad as it sounds--I know the judge well--but still...) But my comedic timing was (VERY unusually) spot-on perfect.

The judge did not hear--he was busy examining the salsa-kit. The other 70 people in the room just about died laughing.

To this day, people at work ask me if my husband is enjoying my new rack.

                        LOL GMW!!!

I won a new washer and dryer from HHGregg about 18 months ago. They were having a contest via twitter in conjunction with Maytag, and our set was on its last leg so I entered. Amazingly, I was one of the winners!!

I've won a ton of stuff. T-shirts, raffles, various things. This past year: I ordered a down comforter for DD, they gave me a free one by accident and I got to keep it (not really a win...). I also ordered some Halloween trees from Grandin Road. They sent me extra, and I got to keep it. I won a cake stand at a glass museum in November.

Also, when the girls were infants, we had to use this particular formula to fortify BM and they had an education money contest. We won 25k. Except DH was a "health care professional" so...bummer. Damn fine print.
