  • What minor irritation really gets on your nerves?

    Here's one from -22F land.

What the heck is up with gas pumps having 2-4 questions for you to answer (and press the buttons on) when you pump gas?

    Do you want a receipt?
Do you want a car wash?
Do you want to play the powerball?
blah, blah. It's freakin' cold. Just let me swipe my card and pay for Pete's sake!

That is annoying, kris. Along with checking out, the cashier asks:
Do you have our savings/points/rewards card?
    Do you want it?
    You can save __, today
    Would you like to donate?
    Sign up for our CC
    Email? Phone number for coupons?

Me--no no no and NO. I just want you to add up my shit so I can pay. And I don't want to do the survey on the receipt, either.

Also, people chewing loudly near me. All chewing/crunching. Little noises. Snapping, clapping, tapping. Too much noise in general is really very hard for me. Loud tv, loud music, the movies are difficult. The kids talking constantly, over each other. Oy. I'm a mess. 😕

Seriously, staaaaaaahp with the check out shit. That's part of the reason why I go to stores that have self-check lanes.

I'm annoyed by my coworkers. One smells as if she bathed in Downey. Another is complete and utter trash. She actually said that she thinks black people are closer to the apes than whites.

A third is terminally perky. One day while talking (loudly) to one of her team members, she said that she had had a couple of grumpy customers on the phone, but she "managed to turn their frowns upside down!!!" I'm mean, who the fuck says that to an adult. I wouldn't even use it on a toddler...

My favorite coworker is the deaf lady who's cube is near mine. She is always friendly and has a genuine smile.

The people in my office all chew with their mouths open. It's like working in a freaking zoo.

I cannot handle the sound of people eating either. For some reason I always manage to hire people who eat non-stop. I actually sent a friend of mine this text yesterday: "Things she has eaten or slurped today: chicken tortilla soup, 6 cucumbers (not lying), 6 mini candy bars, a single-serving bag of chips, an actual lunch (not sure what it was, but it was loud), cereal, hot chocolate, a smoothie, an apple, and orange, and 4 cookies." Then, she goes home and eats dinner! She has to be on a 5,000 calorie diet. She's a size zero, former college athlete with the metabolism of Michael Phelps.

My work productivity has decreased greatly since she was hired. I keep crossing my fingers in hope that the office that I was promised 4 years ago will finally become a reality! Then I can at least close my door when she eats the really annoying things...like soup...she's a soup slurper. Those are the worst!
I'm just trying to make it out alive!

Dirty socks left all over my house. Kids just take them off and leave them wherever.

Empty toilet paper rolls, especially if a new roll is just propped in top. I'm the only person in my house that changes the toilet paper rolls.

Commercials that are twice as loud as the show's volume.

Oh, I will play, please excuse my therapeutic download. Look away if you are trying to keep positive vibes.

                          Family related:
                          Cell phones at tables
children not responding when called (this one chaps my lilly white a**)
popping up after eating and not waiting for other people to be done eating (Hmmmm...notice a theme here? I swear our "family dinners are <10 min and three or four times a week and kids act like they are interminable)
walking by things on the stairs that are clearly meant to be carried upstairs.
Leaving lights on in unused rooms

                              Here's another one:
Cold callers with rude scripts. I've been getting repeat calls from this second string electricity producer where the caller begins: "I need to speak to the person in charge of the utility bill."
I always call them on it: "You NEED to? Is this in your script? Do you think you should speak to your boss about this?"
I feel bad pouring it on for the minimum wage making caller, but it really grinds my gears.
