  • Date Night Ideas

I thought this would be a good topic!

What are some fun date night activities?

(DH and I are stuck going to only a handful of the same restaurants every single time we go out. We almost never go out anymore because it's always the same thing!)

We're boring and always enjoy the same restaurant. Just not having kids interrupt us huge. I think anything active would be fun...bowling, darts, sip and paint, cooking classes...

I really want to go to a wine bar. There is a fabulous chocolate shop with live jazz in Dallas I'd like to go to.

The big problem is all the fun stuff is like an hour away from the babysitters (parents).

Honestly I think our ideal date right now would be a kid free nap. It's so pathetic

We just do dinner and a movie. Or we mix it up and go to the movie first and dinner after. Not much else to do around here...

We like to do different happy hours here. The art museum here has a happy hour every Thursday and Friday which is really fun. Sometimes we'll go and get a happy hour drink and an app and then share an entree somewhere else. When we don't want to fully go "out", we'll cook dinner together at home and then go to Whole Foods and get a beer for him and glass of wine for me and maybe get a small dessert item from the bakery. We'll also stop at a local brewery here for him to get a beer and there's live music on Fridays (I don't drink beer so that's usually more of a "I'm feeling nice and will stand in this brewery for you for an hour" thing) so that's fun. We like to try different restaurants/different styles of restaurants so we switch it up regularly - wine bars, tapas places, different kinds of cuisine.

We're not hugely into movies so we don't do those very often. But recently we'll have a meal together and then browse a record store together or he'll indulge me and take me to B&N and buy me a coffee and let me browse for a little while. Most of our dates involve getting some form of drinks and then a meal - but that's what we really enjoy. We really like having nice, relaxed meals together after a long and busy week. We also don't have kids so we have the opportunity to kind of try lots of stuff or do stuff on a whim like take a Saturday and drive to the mountains to visit a vineyard or just for dinner.

We've also recently been on a board game kick and have had several weekend nights where we'll get takeout or cook together, DH will make a fire, put on a record, and then play Monopoly or Scrabble with a bottle of wine.

Am I the only ten year old who wants to go to mini golf on a date night? obviously this has to be a good weather thing unless your in DC or some other place with indoor places.. Also, bowling, or Bocce ball at this restaurant http://pinstripes.com/ . I like doing something a little active and not just sitting at a movie or a restaurant. There is also Dave and Busters, which I call the chuckecheese for adults. I also love to go to improv shows instead of a movie.

DH and I like to go to the comedy club, out to eat, walking around the farmers market, movies, concerts, we were going to do a picnic at the botanical gardens this weekend, but it may be too cold.

There's an article I found for 100 date ideas in Orlando. I bet you could find similar for Minneapolis or wherever.

We've had morning dates on the golf course! It's much easier for me to take time away from the boys in the morning when they're still in good moods than it is at night when they need to be put to bed, etc.

We love to learn...whatever it may be. So, we do a lot of winery, microbrewery tours and tastings. Also like cooking classes...always learn something new. Have done things from skeet shooting to mindfulness classes.

We also are big time foodies. A new restaurant/bar with great reviews can get us excited.

Music is another type of date we enjoy...love all types be it classical, jazz, well known group/band to local artists. We love good live music.

I basically look online or in the newspaper to see what festivals, new food/beverage places, concerts, etc. we can try.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!
