Nice! I wanted to add that a mom picking her kids up at preschool today had the exact hair color you wanted in purple. It wasn't shocking or distasteful. I don't know if she is married to a doctor nor should it matter?

I'm so late to this thread!! I think I understand where your husband is coming from, he's feeling cautious about your next phase in life? My husband used to say things like that, but he's also VERY particular about things with me...borderline controlling...I used to at least try to take his suggestions under advisement now I tell him to get the fuck out of my bathroom so I can put on my makeup.
We're PGY3, intern year I had the purple streak and then I chopped off my hair and got steps (two ghetto lines on the side of my head). It sounds like you're going to do what you want, which is awesome. Make sure you let us see how it turns out!!

Sorry ladies? I haven't done it yet. The pic above is someone else and I just wanted to show the color. I'm starting to chicken out already lol but I have a consultation coming up MAPPLEBUM I think in my situation. I am a people pleasure. I started dated him when I was 19! And I think I wanted him to like me so I picked up on a couple of things while we were friends. I have eaten hot Cheetos since then lol I always ask him his opinion because 1. It matters to me and 2. Because I want him to still love me physically ( long story but this one ha to do more so with my parents then us ) so I can't help but to ask him everytime I do something with my hair.
He is a patient man and with my crazy ideas I don't blame him for his opinions
More so then often I do end up making my own mind and go for it. And he is nice enough to tell me the things I need to hear.
Like the one time I dyed my hair black. I was called Snow White for that time period or got a pixie cut. I was tinker lol

It's funny because I try to get my husband's opinion on my hair, and he won't give it. He always says he likes it, no matter what. I don't know if he really doesn't care, or he just doesn't want to tell me. The first time I cut it substantially shorter recently, I came home and he said "it's short." Well duh, I told you I was going to cut it all off! I mean I don't really care what he does with his, but there are some lengths that look better than others, and I think it looks nicer when he actually styles it, but not enough for me to tell him what he can or can't do.Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer

The one time DH said anything, (he liked it shorter than it was), I cut it super short for our honeymoon trip which involved humid temps and hiking. Apparently, that was shorter than he thought I'd go, and he lamented my "lost hair". He now says Jack. 😄

I am more conservative in my hair. Although I do wish I could do something fun. We have a girl at my office who is perfect for upper management but her hair is black with bright purple underneath. There is no way that would fly. It is so stupid that it matters but sadly it does in business

We have a quite few students with colored hair. Pink, green, blue. It's a lot of fun. I will say that it fades really quickly and does leave the hair looking dull and damaged. There's no gloss in these gals hair. LIght is absorbed, not reflected. I think it needs to be done every 2 weeks to keep it's punch. It depends on how your hair handles that kind of treatment. Typically natrual burnettes have strong hair shafts. The best color wear I've seen is the pink.-Ladybug
