  • One way to meet the neighbors

So I'm up way too late again, and I just finished working on stuff/surfing around online when I go to finish E's meals for the rest of the week. I saw a can of food in the fridge and realized we hadn't fed Buster, and when he didn't come running, I realized I actually hadn't seen him all day. So I look around a bit, and then I get really worried and actually wake hubby up. He's nowhere in the house, so we start looking outside. He ran out when I got home yesterday, but I thought I had gotten him inside afterward. We've got a flashlight, we're calling his name, and shaking the container of food, and we hear the neighbors a couple of houses down yell over the fence asking if we're looking for a cat. I was like yes, a gray one! They said he was in their yard and we could come meet them at the front and come get him. My mom had met these neighbors before we moved in, and I had been meaning to meet them because they're about our age. His parents live across the street, and I've met them briefly a couple of times. I go over and try to get him, and he of course runs away, so I gave them my number and asked if they'd let me know if he came back. A bit later he did, so hubby's outside looking and I run back over, and we're trying to corral him when I realize we've left E sleeping alone at the house - parents of the year award?? I came back home while hubby kept looking, and he finally got him and brought him home. So, we've met the neighbors finally, and we've had way more excitement tonight than necessary. Poor hubby is on call tomorrow too. I'm thinking I should bake cookies or something and bring them over to the neighbors to thank them - what do you think?

Oatmeal chocolate chip is my go to recipe. Although I was thinking wine might be better. Or both.
