Yeah, since we're moving somewhere it almost never snows, we're OK with the smaller place for a year because we figure if it comes to it, we can use the garage space. There's plenty of driveway parking for cars. They don't HAVE to be indoors. I'm still not sure everything would fit in the garage with room to move around and get boxes. Maybe!

I've found I do better doing just the opposite. If I have the boxes out of the way somewhere, they sit for months. I like to go ahead and move them into their designated rooms as we unpack the moving van, then I go room by room unpacking. The exception is artwork and decor, as that usually waits until we've unpacked things we actually use more often.

There is nothing more frustrating to me than moving crap only to be thrown away later. I will be working to purge as I pack. We're going 2br --> 1br, but not really losing square footage. The actual bedroom is HUGE, so I suppose I'll have to get some screens to divide the room up a bit.

See, I'm so Type A that I couldn't do that. I'm always completely unpacked with pictures hung in about 1-3 weeks. If the boxes were in plain view, I just wouldn't sleep until every last one was unpacked.

For local moving, if it's at all possible, overlapping leases helps. I like to get childproofing and messy projects done before the kids move in.

We have an overlapping lease for the first time ever! I'm so excited. We're going to pick up the keys and block out where we want everything. We'll be moving 2 days before our current lease ends, so lots of time to come back and clean/make sure we didn't forget anything.

I am little late to reply so far, I will suggest you to call for the professional movers and packers services. I remember how much stressed I was when I had to move and looking for a professional service was another problem to me.

Let's see: 1) don't have kids; 2) live a lifestyle that is super minimalist and organized; 3) have scads of cash lying about.

/sorry--my inner sarcasm runneth over. Moving sucks. Lots of hug to those of you going through it.

It's an advertisement for a moving company.

Good advice. I'll add - only move locally.... Especially if you made the mistake of violating rule number 1 above.

I recommend being born in one place and never moving. Ever. If at all possible.
