Going with my sister and dad to Key West, leaving Monday and returning Saturday. Going to KS for fil's retirement and mil's 70th bday over Father's Day weekend. DH and I leave for a week in Turks and Caicos on July 4th. The two older boys will be in Nicaragua on a mission trip that week, and my youngest will be at church camp. We are hoping for a short weekend getaway as a family sometime....but don't know if it will work out.

DH and I are going to Napa for a long weekend (Friday - Monday) this month. Two other moms and I are going to take our kids to an indoor water park, kind of like Great Wolf Lodge. It's through our timeshare property, so we can stay for free during the week, but we'll all be in one little two-bedroom condo. It'll be kind of chaotic, but fun! We've also talked about going down to Houston for a weekend to see BIL and his wife, but I'm not sure if we'll do that over the summer or in the fall when it's cooler.

What Summer vacations/trips do you have planned?

We've just embarked on the "us" portion of DHs two week vacation - and not a moment too soon. He was beyond burned out after back to back peds, surgery, and an MRICU AI. We're at our beach place just the two of us until Tuesday (celebrating our three year anniversary on Monday!) then we're driving home (RDU home, not VA home) to meet my parents and brother bc we're all flying out to San Francisco on Wednesday morning until Monday. In addition to exploring we're doing a Sonoma wine tour day trip and going to Muir Woods. We're so excited and this is a real treat since we probably wouldn't have been able to pull of a flight/hotel vacation this year if my parents hadn't generously offered to take us. We just realized that in one week we'll see both coasts of the country! How cool!

Sister is coming for about 5 days, then our anniversary (nice dinner date planned). July is quiet, except for the conference (woohoo!) then we have my family coming out in mid-August.

DS1 is back in private swim lessons 2x week, works out with me 2x a week, and we are hitting up the library 1x week. Sprinkle in a few play dates with one or two of his friends, and that's pretty much it.

The rest looks like beach beach beach, Disney, more Disney, isn't it too hot for Disney?, beach, Netflix.

DH and I are leaving for a week-long trip to Paris in 11 days. Kids are staying with grandparents while we're gone.

In July we're going to the beach for a long weekend with some good friends.

We have tickets to Lollapalooza again this year (August), kids will stay with grandparents again.

Kids are each doing a couple of weeks of half-day summer camps here and there. Boys will take tennis and golf lessons through our club, and we'll (hopefully) spend lots of time at the pool!

Moving to CA in July. Hopefully at least one day trip to the coast before then. Once we've moved and gotten settled, we'll take at least one trip to my parents' cabin before the summer is through.

We're taking a 10th-anniversary trip to NYC for a week in August. We haven't been back since we moved away nine years ago. My parents are coming down to stay with the kids.

And it's not technically summer, but in October we're planning to go to New England to see the husband's side of the family. Should be a fun trip. DD7 has started playing Minecraft with her same-age cousins in MA and NH this year, and it's really been a pretty good tool for keeping them connected from afar. Planning to do a whale watch and possibly Six Flags while we're there.

Also hoping to go camping locally this fall when it cools down a little.

And this summer I'd like to do one weekend in the mountains and one at the beach--leave Friday after husband gets home from work and come home Sunday evening, no time taken off. Probably do Asheville for the mountains, and Myrtle Beach again for the beach. We are temporarily broke as a joke, though. We were wiped out by taxes this year, which should be a one-time thing, since 2014 was husband's buy-in year at the practice, and said buy-in is now complete. We had been forewarned about what buy-in does to your taxes, and had prepared, and then it was way worse than everyone was expecting. The New York trip and all summer camps were already planned and paid for before taxes hit, but for the rest of the summer we'll have to play it by ear. Depends on the June bonus, etc.

I'm really loving travel at this stage of our family life, though. The kids are old enough to not need so much equipment but young enough that their weekends aren't all booked up. All four of us are into it and we pull together as a team a bit better while traveling. The kids are marginally better behaved on the road etc. We'll stretch it to get those weekend trips in if at all possible this summer.
