Wild baby bird question

Is anyone an expert on wild birds? This adorable little finch made a nest in the wreath on my front door, and four eggs hatched and as of today, the babies have flown the coop. My question is: should I take the nest down and clean up the door or will she be back to lay some more eggs this season? If she'll come back, I don't want to disturb her. The first time we didn't use our front door for a month so she wouldn't be bothered.

It's one of the reasons I love my husband--he happily goes along with my "animal thing". When we lived up North he would rescue the tiny little toads that lived in our yard when he mowed the lawn, and he doesn't mind the front door being off limits when I've let a bird move in.

Happy Spring! If only the pollen would settle down here. I'm sweeping yellow dust off the back porch every day and everyone's allergies have gone crazy.

I'm the local vet student, but admittedly I don't know much about birds. I think they usually lay eggs only once a season, but I can't say for sure. Maybe you could hang the wreath on the side of the house instead of the door, so she'd have a constant place?

Growing up we had the same situation and my mom called a vet in town to ask the same question. They told us it was okay to take the nest down. She'll be back next year most likely and nest in the same safe spot again! Good luck!
