  • Thanksgiving Plans?

What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving this year?

We won't have family visiting (Less work for me!) so I'm not sure what we'll do yet. I do have Wed-Friday off of work, so ... I'll probably be doing a LOT of sleeping in!

Fuck if I know. My parents house, but there is conflict about who has the kids for Thanksgiving and we are headed to court over it along with child support issues.

      Aw crap HoW

We are going to my parents house and my in laws are coming up as usual. By some miracle my sister (ICU nurse at new job) and DH have Thurs and Fri off, so I'm really looking forward to the holiday. And wine.

Traveling! Going to my brother's home. My mom, siblings, nephews will all be together. We are doing Hannukah too.

Hubby finally has T-day off again (we actually prefer to have Thanksgiving free rather than Christmas, but DH's department director gave him Christmas the last few years.) We are hosting, expecting at least seven adults but maybe eight or more plus our two kids, and we've reserved a local turkey!

I finalized a restaurant reservation for late lunch at 2. Excited that it will be a pleasant meal, but I won't have to cook.

We're staying home and cooking ourselves this year. The girls are old enough to help and looking forward to the family effort. I already decorated the table. I had read somewhere about someone who sets their table early so you can enjoy it for a while before the feast. It does feel like a lot of work and prep for one day of enjoyment. It's been nice to have it up already.

We'll be hanging out at home. We haven't discussed plans other than our usual watching movies and eating but I expect we'll all agree to go out for dimsum.

                    Thanksgiving Plans?

It's the first time in 9 years we don't have to book any flights or plan any multi-state road trips to get home for the holidays, and I'm so excited! The boys and I will drive 2 hours to my parents house on Wednesday morning, and DH will join us when he gets off that night. I'm not sure if or when we'll see his parents (they live 45 minutes from mine). Things are still not good with them, so I'm focusing on all the parts of thanksgiving that I'm really excited about.

My IL's are on vacation that week so we'll probably have dinner at home with SIL. DH is on call so hopefully he'll make it home for dinner. I was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to cook but it will be nice to be home anyway.

I decided not to go to my parents (in Rochester NY) but to stay in Brooklyn with my hubby. This is the second time in my entire life that I haven't been with my extended dad's side of the family. But, since this is our first holiday season as a married couple, so I decided to stay here for thanksgiving, back to Roc for 48 hours for Christmas. Luckily, he ended up getting the day of thanksgiving off! We still don't know if he'll have Christmas off or not. If he ends up having it off, I'll need your advice on whether we should buy him a super expensive flight for a 24 hour trip or not. We'll see!

Oh, also... I'm running a 5 mile turkey trot that morning, but one of the attendings invited us to his family's for thanksgiving dinner. Thoughts on whether we should just do the day just the two of us or whether we should show face? The downside is, hubby is working 24 the next day, plus the attending lives decently far out in long island.

We're hosting DH's family. His brother and SIL will stay with us, and his mom and dad are getting a hotel room. We're cooking a turkey and a brisket (if we can get the brisket delivered on time). DH is on vacation the whole week, so I'll have plenty of help with prep, even though the kids are also out of school the whole week. On Friday and Saturday, I'll go on my annual shopping trip with my mom, aunt, and sister. I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving this year!

I saw my mom pinned recipes for boozy Thanksgiving punch. Good call mom.
