  • Holiday gift ideas?

It might be soon to ask this ... but any good ideas for the doctor who has everything (and if he doesn't he just orders it from amazon)? I have no ideas for Thomas. None.

Hahaha oh my gosh we're addicted to Amazon too. Both my parents and his parents got him Amazon gift cards for his birthday lol! For Christmas I got him a calendar from shutterfly with photos from our wedding and our vacation this year! If you message me your email address I can send you a deal through the site for free stuff!

I'd go for experiences. Cooking class, murder mystery dinner, shooting range, horseback riding...

I was too excited to wait, C got and already carved a smoking pipe. Then unfortunately he came home and saw the huge box from Craft a Brew. He's now starting to brew his first batch of beer... What in the world will I get him now...

This is what I've been doing while we're in residency. And then letting him off with a charming/happy attitude to get away from the kids and actually DO the experience. He doesn't get time/feels selfish pursuing his hobbies if it takes him away from the kids so it's really been a positive gift giving experience.

LOL. Hubby's birthday this year was him saying, "Did you have something in mind for my birthday or should I get myself something from Amazon?" And me saying, "I have something small lined up, but otherwise if there's something you wanted to splurge on, DO IT. What a relief."

Christmas is always a reminder for me to buy DH clothes. I've been told from him that clothes don't count as gifts.

I like the idea of gifting something you can experience together. Their crazy schedules make that whole planning ahead thing difficult.

This year I am making him a fun gun range like the videos he always watches: targets, things to put potatoes on, coke cans on as well as the regular targets.

Other things I've done in years past: made a photo book of mission trips for him to put in the waiting rooms, blown up pictures, made collages, etc again for the office and waiting room. He is teaching himself to play the guitar so I've gotten him instructional DVD's, music books, etc. I've gotten him tickets to a favorite artist concert that was coming up in early spring. I've made pictures of the kids in doctor gear. ( Looks cute in the office.) I got him a record player one year and he used it to convert all of his albums to digital. One I haven't done, but will sometime is to get one of those travel maps where you put the different colored pins: places you've been, places you are going soon, and places you want to go or something like that. He LOVES to travel. I've bought things for our RV. I gave him a magazine subscription to a Civil War magazine. I've bought him books that he has wanted. My son made him a DVD of our Europe Vacation and bought the Band of Brothers music to put it to. ( A big part of our tour was Normandy and taking the Band of Brothers tour.)

That is all I can think of now.. Some years I draw a complete blank. Others are like this year. He has been collecting guns and doesn't always take the time to shoot them. We have a shooting range, but it is pretty beat up as it is original with the property that we bought 18 years ago. The stand where you shoot is really nice and in good condition. However, the "targets" are just these wood things out in the pasture that you staple the paper targets to and there isn't much left of the wood. I'm buying metal targets and a pole to put the potatoes on and a stand to put coke cans on, etc just like the silly videos he enjoys watching. I'm also going to make a certificate for his PA to come over and shoot with him one day as he lives close to us and came over once and they had a ball shooting a watermelon or something.. His PA is the one who has enabled my husband to keep working after the brain bleed, and he has been so helpful. So I wanted to do something special for him.

My DW spotted a cushion she likes in a movie. Can I find it? Of course not! I've google imaged it and found where it used to be sold but no luck with active vendors.

Next step fabric paint and I'll do it myself!
