Is she sneaking them in late at night, drying the towel, and refolding it to be polite? I was a weird teenager and hated inconveniencing people. I could totally see myself doing that.

I would reek if I didn't shower for 4-5 days. It's weird she doesn't smell. Like the undead. Maybe you should be wearing garlic around your neck at night.

I'm not a fan of showering. It's funny that some use it a stress relief! I kind of hate it. That said, I do shower after workouts and every 2-3 days when I get scummy. If I didn't have to though? I'd totally skip it. I love baths but they are impractical on a regular basis. I also have dry sensitive skin that reacts poorly to most soaps/too much water. Maybe I just made the association between showering and discomfort early in life and it's stuck in my psyche.

Guests can be weird about towels. One time my mom, dad, and sister all three used the same towel when they came to visit me. I spent more time looking for the other two towels then I would have spent washing and folding them if they'd just used them.

That's so funny, Angie. Showers have been the one place of reprieve for me. "Get out! I'm naked! (should scare them, right?) I'll be out in a few minutes." Sometimes they won't leave, and we negotiate/triage through my frosted shower glass how quickly I need to dry off. My kids are with me every minute. Shower is the only place they won't follow me.

Good thoughts but if she had an issue with the bath towel, why does she leave the washcloth IN the sink? I am pretty sure there are no baths or showers taken...probably only washcloth cleaning. If we are at my ILs, I have seen her go from pajamas to being dressed without a trip to the bathroom. It was DH who first noticed and I just figured she would eventually grow out of it once in college - but that does not seem to be the trend.

Isn't being dirty, looking dirty, the hipster vibe?
I shower at least once a day. Twice a day in the summer.

Like DH says, at leas she does not stink. I just find it odd to not shower for 4-5+ days...especially in the summer.
My daughter is almost 14, but only showers every 3 or 4 days. We've been doing this almost her whole life, mostly for skin reasons. Her pediatrician recommended not bathing daily. Her skin is very allergic and too many showers makes it worse. She tends to shower before church on Wednesday nights and Sundays. Her hair looks fine.

I'm confused. She doesn't look or smell dirty, so what's the problem?

There is no problem. Actually, she saves me water and laundry. I just found her behavior odd since I have never known anyone not shower/bathe for 4-5+ days. Other than kids not wanting to bathe, I have never heard of anyone not bathing...especially at her age - when they are self-concious about everything. This is why I asked if it is the new thing to do. I figure it cannot be too odd or her roomates would have said something. As far as allergies/dry skin, etc. I am not sure that covering yourself up in perfume/body spray from Bath & Body works is good for your skin either.

My parents sometimes bring their own towels to my house. It's so weird. They are otherwise pretty normal people! I finally said something and at least my dad stopped and will use our guest towels. My mom was like - no those are too nice, they should only be for guests. Lol. They are pretty much the only guests we have staying over night these days.

I shower. Pretty much every day. I do only wash my hair once a week now - but that's new since I haven't been able to work out as hard as I did. Before it was just after spinning or hot yoga.

I would occasionally skip showers in the winter. I hate getting out and being cold. But since the babies arrived I have to shower every morning. Fun postpartum night sweat thing going on (although thankfully finally getting better!).

Yeah, my daughter can't use any of that stuff. It would bother her skin. But she doesn't stink, I promise!! I tend to take a shower every other day. My husband and my middle son , on the other hand, take at least 2 showers a day. To me, it almost seems OCD....

It's healthier for your hair (especially curly/dry hair) to wash it less often. However, a body shower is usually in order after a few days I'd think! Maybe she's using her trips to your place as a break from working out/constant showers. At 19 I was at my least self conscious. I swam a couple times a week so I'd await those forced showers. Then I'd go straight out to the bars with soaking wet hair and no makeup.
