How scary is it that we have to live in the yellow? I have recurring anxiety about being in an active shooter situation with my children. It takes 38 minutes to get them into the car some mornings. I don't know what I'd do if I only had 2 minutes.

UNC had an "unconfirmed" complaint of an armed person near campus yesterday. They sounded the alarms and put the university on lockdown. I could hear them from our apartment. DH was in lecture. I locked the front door of our building and just kept working and thought, "Well, here we go." It was so depressing. Active shooters are one of my fears, but now it feels inevitable and not impossible. I hate it.

Um, yeah. I saw that on the news as I was literally taxiing for takeoff. I was freaked out! D and our nanny were in CH!!

Holy crap. See, I would have freaked in that instance, definitely. I was lucky to know exactly where DH was and that was pretty calming. Ugh! Not the alert you want to see right before taking off!
It's pretty crazy. It's scary to think about, but I feel better at least feeling like I have some sort of plan now. Btw that blog also has one on surviving plane crashes (another thing I try not to think about, but no harm in being prepared?)
