  • No Complaints

I came across this the other day and I want to try it. I'm especially addicted to whining and it's definitely not my most appealing trait. Guess I'll have to stay away from the rant thread. Whose with me?

This is a cool idea. I like it!

I also think having a positives-only thread on this forum would be wonderful!
I'm just trying to make it out alive!

I've tried to live this way since I was in high school. I truly believe you get the most out of life when you aren't spending a good chunk of your time complaining about every little thing. Not that there aren't struggles but not everything we encounter is a struggle. I will point out that being positive requires strength because I don't think it's necessarily a natural inclination. Also, women especially, don't always appreciate you if you don't get on the complaining train. Misery does indeed love company.

I would whole heartedly encourage some positives only threads around here!

I'll confess, I had to switch my bracelet from wrist to wrist three times before getting out of bed this morning.

I love this idea. I do have doubts about my ability to go even 24 hours, but will try. I'm using a bracelet Oliver made for me!!

Not the same thing but similar is that I try to "leave a positive wake". Some amount of calling something what it is inevitable. Practicing gratitude, reframing situations, and actively looking to throw out positive is a mental and spiritual discipline. I'm kind of late to the game but it makes a HUGE difference in life. When I start my day with my purpose in mind: "Today I'm going to parent with love and intention and teach a child to read" the rest of the bullshit details don't seem to matter as much. It is often hard to bring it back to center in this world, but so important.

Good luck. The world needs more positivity!

OMG, my MIL is in town. She was here two weeks ago and was just fine. It was great. But now she's just been dotty and combative and jealous of my mom who is also visiting. She's really come unglued. I think that I changed my bracelet 5 times during dinner just in an attempt to shut off the complaints in my head.

I met a woman who does this too! She's introduced it to her 7-yr old daughter.
