  • Visiting a podiatrist

Has anyone gone to one? I have terrible pain in my feet....like my bones crunching together. Also, I have searing, burning pain across the top of one foot. This has made it difficult got me to stand and walk.

I've been considering going to an orthopedic doc, but my mom suggested a good podiatrist.

    What do you think?

I went to a podiatrist over a month ago, and am now going to see ortho.
I did everything the podiatrist recommended and am still hurting.

After working with Chad, my opinion is to see an ortho if at all possible.

My vote is for an ortho too. Feel better!

I've been a few times. I have a bunion that I'm watching. I get my foot x-rayed from time to time just to make sure it isn't worse or that it's not time for a surgery. I also went last summer when I broke a joint in my toe. It's not invasive and a relatively easy visit as far as doctors go.

DH had luck with one when he had some running issues. Got custom orthotics that helped a lot. Not sure what we'd do now. This was pre-medicine.

I have been to one, no complaints. For anything invasive I would go Ortho.

I did when I was in HS and had hurt my foot, and it never got better. He put me in some orthotics, which helped.

I've been to a few. None of them seemed to help much. A couple injections were actually good, but the majority of those have done nothing.

I saw an ortho once too. He wasn't all that helpful either, but he sent me to PT and this awesome guy - who is a ski boot fitter - for custom orthotics. They helped. But I still have foot pain. It sucks.

I think - if you have the time - go to both and compare what they say.

I had surgery by a podiatrist when I was in vet school and it was great! I went to an ortho for a followup many years later and he sent me back to a podiatrist! I think there are probably good ones and bad ones. I've been very happy with all three different podiatrists I've seen.
