So our 10 year anniversary is this summer. We are hoping to go on a vacation this fall. Some friends invited us to go to Jamaica with them. I'd love to go. But we are considering a 3rd.
Having a third is a whole other discussion. But my thought is to say no, better safe than sorry.
Right?!? Thoughts?
There isn't any reason to think a vaccine would be ready by then is there?

Oh man, that is rough. I'm not sure what I would do. We went to Jamaica just before it blew up and I was pregnant with #3 at the time. FWIW, we LOVED Jamaica and want to go back. Could you put off TTC til next spring? I cant remember--is 6 months enough time?
Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.
6 months is the current recommendation. I know bc DH is currently in Miami where they have it.
I wouldn't risk it, personally. I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself if I was hiding from mosquitos.
But then again, I'm fairly certain the entire southern US will have it this summer.

I'll say this: we are super close to all those places and could fly or cruise easily on the super cheap, but the travel advisories are definitely ones I am adhering to. We have a place set for April, but won't be going.

Agreed with T&S and thirteen. Avoid, avoid, avoid. If you decide no more kids, go for it. Otherwise just wait to do a trip there until it is safe. I made hubby take TX locations off his fellowship application list, and he will not be attending conferences in FL. These are our baby making years. Not going to risk our baby's future for anything. Not worth it.

I have a feeling this may impact whether we go for #4.

Living in the Midwest I'd prefer to try for a spring/summer baby. And not to hijack the whole thread when to have #3 is a whole issue even without Zika (first year attending vs. my brca2 issues).
