  • How much to participate in job interviews

If a group invites you to tour while dh is doing his contract review do you go? I am not sure why I would need to tour the group. I don't know anything about that stuff.

Also invited to lunch with the group that we are already having dinner with. Is this just a polite invite and they don't expect you to go?

    I am lost.

I did not go to the preliminary interviews because it was tough to travel with my job at that time. I did, however, go to the final two places we had narrowed the list to for a second look. It was important for me to learn about not only the town but the practice as well. For example, when one DH's potential partner could not even meet up for lunch and then showed up to dinner at 9:00p to then return to the hospital to finish consults...that told me the whole work life balance they spoke of was a bunch of BS. The other potential partner was much older and I could tell he was ready to bail as soon as they hired someone. DH would ask the clinical practice questions and I would ask the systems based/staff longevity, etc. questions. I also asked questions like what were their biggest frustrations. Socially, I asked if they liked to travel (important to us) and found out that it was tough to get away.
