  • New Years Resolutions!

What are your New Years Resolutions?

I'm going to exercise more, eat healthier, practice more self-care, and get organized about managing my household. I'd also like to figure out how to spend equal amounts of "special time" with each of my children weekly.

Along with eating more veggies and getting my steps, I am going to read and keep track of what I read. Goodreads is nice but I have to admit it doesn't really work well for me, for various reasons. So instead I'm just going to make sure to make a note in my bullet journal when I start or finish a book. I'm also hoping to keep track of what my kids read, which is even trickier.

You are catching me on a crotchety night so my answer is tongue in cheek.

I'm buying new bras and jeans. I may have a makeover at sephora. Maybe.

That's my resolution. Lol. I know you're impressed.

I really need to sugar detox. It's bad and I know it. I'm staying skinny bc I'm breastfeeding but it's not healthy. I'm to the point where I have 2-3 desserts at night and at least 1 after lunch.

The usual... be healthier by eating better, exercising more, and losing weight, and declutter.

I think I'm going to try and get to barre class twice a month. My flexibility sucks and I'm selectively strong but smushy in other areas.

Did a class today. Nearly died. My abs are dead after the pregnancies.

A friend posted her 2016 books from Goodreads this week. I went to do mine and apparently you have to date it whenever you log a book! I like using it simply because I've had to get rid of so many books over the years. I'm one of those who likes owning books that I read but am restricted by shelf space. That means every time I add books to my shelf I get rid of one or two to make room.

I just spent a couple of (frequently interrupted) hours forming my goals for the year. We've hit cruising altitude in our lives so most of my goals are fun, finally. First and foremost are lifestyle and health goals. I need to drop 20ish pounds while maintaining muscle. I'm back up at my peak weight after succumbing to fall and winter hibernation tendencies. My friend is a beachbody coach, and I've half-heartedly participated in her BB challenge groups, but I'm all in for the next round which starts 1/4. I need to dial in my nutrition, and cut the booze calories. Our 15 year anniversary is this spring and I will be wearing a swimsuit, so major health goals. The 40s are killing my metabolism!! Today I'm doing a barre class and will try to do 1-2 outside classes weekly.

I've fallen into the habit of hiding in my room too much. I need to get out and engage with my family more. Today I worked on my goals in the kitchen, hence the frequent interruptions. I need to spend more time reading with the two youngest kids.

Work is good, so no goals or changes there. Just a steady march forward so the girls can go to school there eventually.

Now the fun goals: Golf lessons and practice. We are taking a golf-cation for our anniversary trip. A ski lesson to learn how to match my skis and advance with the kids. Ski twice a month and try new moutains (have a list). Daily writing/reading/journaling and participating in a writing group here. Get back into photography weekly practice, and organize my basement so I can quilt again.

I've become bored with constantly cooking kid food. I hate cooking now. I want to learn a new cuisine for me that will also keep me accountable for my food choices. I'm going to find an panasian cookbook and we have a great asian grocery store here. I'll get a wok and hot pot an quit spending so much money on takeout. I flove asian food. I'm making chicken pho tonight and will start with hot pots this winter.

Our big home projects are completely redoing the kids bathroom. We had a contractor come and are waiting on the estimate. Should be done by the spring. Their shower is nonfunction and we've had five people showering in our bathroom every day. It's time to get them out and reclaim our space. Plust the constant humidity and mold battle in there. I also want to relandscape our yard this year. So big, but fun projects on the homefront. These are the first home projects we've ever done.

Overall, I'm expecting a fun year, and I'm enjoying the kids being older with more freedom and fun family activities.

My resolutions are to 1) Be Kind (I've picked up bad habits from coworkers and complain about people too much) and 2) Be grateful. I'm struggling with the guilt of nearing the finish line without DHs coresident. I'm going to do a gratitude journal to appreciate life.

I also want to become healthier so I'm setting one small goal for myself a month. This month it's tracking my food. Later on in the year I'll try and cut down on soda and sugar.

Yeah, I lose track of when I start and stop a given book, especially if I never really finish it or if I put it aside for a while and read something else. I also lose track if it doesn't occur to me to log in to Goodreads for an extended period. Then, trying to recreate dates and remember completely omitted books, it all becomes a jumble.

But I always have my notebook open, so I can jot down what I stop and start and maybe even what I abandon. I can also do a slightly better job of keeping up with my kids. They are huge and erratic consumers of books -- DS is part way into three or four novels and two or three nonfiction books; DD, if anything, is worse. >.< Since I have the dates down on paper, I can always go back to Goodreads after the fact and log stuff in as well if I want to do that for social reasons or for searchability.

Get Lambie toilet trained by August and hopefully get all my kids going to the same school. Stress less and connect with my husband more.

                              1) Don't work too much

                              2) Save more, spend less

                              3) Figure out what the heck we're doing after training!
