• Wine Issues

Anyone on else love wine but hate how they feel afterwards? AND I am not talking hangover. I can have a small glass but no more. Two glasses at a dinner party and I wake up in the middle of the night feeling bleh. It is not heartburn and not full fledge nausea - just bleh is best way to describe it. Once it is time to get out of bed, showered - get ready to adult, I feel better. Biggest issue is that it disrupts my sleep. I 've started drinking a large glass of water throughout the night and taken zantac at times but neither have helped.

Is this is what old age is about? This is anew issue...never had this problem before. Got any tips wine drinkers?

Does it happen with both red and white, or just red?

Only for reds for me. I used to be able to drink the driest Cabs and now I can't drink any reds without getting a headache while I'm drinking it.

It's the tannins.

DH can't drink reds, either. Of course he doesn't like drinking white, so he's become more of a cocktail guy.

Same thing happens to me. I don't like red but it happens with white. I have a mixed drink or cocktail now instead, or a cider but only one. More than two and I feel like crap no matter what it is

This is so sad! I haven't had any major issues. My only problem is really if I have too much, especially without enough water.

My go-to wine currently is Bota Box Redvolution though, which is not dry at all.

Alcohol just makes me sleepy now. Even a half glass of wine. 😕

Gives me heartburn too. I'm going to start on OTC PPI this week. Fingers crossed.

Yes, I drink mostly reds - and I do love dry reds.
alotofyarn - your "this is so sad" made me think....yeah, sad indeed...forget all the other signs of middle age, the fact I cannot enjoy wine like I used to is truly sad.

i was hoping to get some hints on how to avoid feeling bleh. A friend suggested fried foods/burger but I told her I am not hungover.
Thirteen, wine has always put me to sleep. For that matter any alcohol. I have never understood being the life of the party after several drinks. I turn into a grump that wants to go to bed.

Red wines fuck with my asthma and reflux anymore. Which is annoying because they're my preference. Meh. I just don't drink wine much anymore.
