  • The Step 1 will be over tomorrow!!!!

Sam takes the Step 1 tomorrow morning! The nice thing is that the testing center is right down the street from my office so we are going to ride together tomorrow morning. I'll be on "standby" to bring him lunch. And then I'll leave work when he's done.

I can't wait for this to be over! I miss my husband!

He has the next two weeks off and then third year starts. We have lots of fun things planned (camping trip, baseball games) and I have a huge "honey do" list waiting for him!

Good luck to the other MS2s out there waiting for the step 1 to be over too!

We have 6 more days until the test.
He's been studying like crazy and its so hard to get ahold of him. We actually had to plan our phone call in advance. Wow I can't imagine what this is going to be like and when its over. I've been avoiding conflicts myself because when two people are tense that can be a bad situation. What are they like after the test? Do they want to celebrate or sleep?? or are they just so brain dead they don't know what to do

Well, we survived! I think I was more stressed on Friday than Sam was! Sam isn't one to stress in general so the weeks leading up to the test weren't that bad for us. He doesn't get cranky or withdrawn or snippy - he just disappears into the study and emerges to say "did you know that 10% of the us population (blah blah blah) or "Let me explain how this works (blah blah blah).

So, after the test he was nice and relaxed. He finished up around 2:00 (after starting at 7:30) The only thing he wanted to do to celebrate was to have a few beers and eat crawfish. He said the exam was not as hard as all of the Q-bank questions he had done leading up to the test (he did ALL of the Qbank questions at least once 8O ) and the practice tests that the school had given them.

Now we just have to wait for the score!

So how long does it exactly take to get the results??
We have three more days now, I'm getting anxious which is not so much of a good thing. Phew, gonna be real happy to have my sweets back once this is over even if its just for a month.

I'm so happy for all of you who've finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm getting close enough to it myself that I can sense how sweet that must be.

Anyone else still with me in Studyville? FH takes the test Thursday. I'll be glad to have him back, I miss him! We'll be celebrating by going to see Harry Potter. And there will likely be margaritas involved.

Julie - Good luck with the final days! It is so nice to have it behind us. We had a few margaritas as well. Do you plan to sneak one or two into the theatre?

Actually our margarita ritual involves going to a bbq place we like on the upper west side (where, ironically, I always seem to end up getting a turkey burger rather than barbeque) and having their ridiculously large margaritas. We have learned the hard way that a second giant margarita is NOT a good idea, even though it may SEEM like a good idea after the first one. Then we stumble out into the street (one of the good things about public transportation is that you don't need a designated driver) and walk a couple blocks to this really cool candy store. It's kind of like the FAO Schwartz of candy stores--elaborate displays, etc. For some reason all that candy is intensely fascinating after a bunch of tequila.

Usually we just look and leave, but once FH decided to get some special kind of black licorice he saw there or something. We're waiting to pay and the lengthy line isn't moving AT ALL. Finally FH blurts out, not annoyed, just good-naturedly curious, "Why is this taking so long?" and something about the way he said it was sooo funny, everyone in line ahead of us cracked up and turned to see who had said that (maybe it was the slurring or how unintentionally loud he was) and the person directly in front of us struck up a conversation with him. It was one of those little moments where someone does something cute that totally breaks the tension in a situation. He has a way about him like that.

Anyway (this story makes us sound like lushes, but I swear our Total Lifetime Consumption is still way below average for people our age), although we are more than ready to move away from the city--far, far away to somewhere where people don't pee on the sidewalk, please--I have to admit there are a few things I will miss.
